Nah he's right, I've read a fair amount of that. Not certain about the talking heads part though. I think it's because people like to sound certain.

Wishful thinking for Cono so he has something to be outraged about.

    Ukraine

This thread has really started to devolve, fellas.

Very informative overall though. I try and watch PBS news hour and read Reuters articles. This thread being my fix for opinions and discussion is much more informative what the professional opinion havers are churning out, aside from some gomer lying about his dick.

Fixed it. No. Estimates are Russian pilots get about half the flight time per year that us pilots do, and us pilots complain often they don’t fly and train enough. Perhaps part of the reason Russia is using the shitty crude weapons.

The most likely ground offensive option is that the Russian military would focus on destroying Ukrainian military units east of the Dnieper River, inflicting casualties, taking prisoners of war, destroying military equipment, and degrading defense capabilities. This could include a planned withdrawal — a punitive raid —possibly after one or two weeks. It could also involve occupying terrain outside Kyiv and threatening the capital unless Russia’s demands are met. Such an operation would more closely resemble a more aggressive version of Russia’s war in Georgia in 2008 than its annexation of Crimea. By inflicting heavy losses on the Ukrainian military, taking prisoners of war, and degrading Kyiv’s defense capabilities, Russia could potentially alter Zelensky’s incentive structure sufficiently to induce painful concessions.

My hang up is with the last sentence. What stops UA from resetting and pressing forward with EU and NATO membership when RU leaves? At that point RU has gained nothing and lost a ton.

    Ukraine

70 planes being donated by Slovakia, Poland, and Bulgaria. Including Mig 29’s, 25’s.

Sure would be bad timing if the hand over was “expedited” and that Colum was hit by “Ukranian” pilots.

Do you have a link? Because that is a serious development.

I still like the idea of the column being taken out by a rogue group of anonymous hackers with drones. Preferably Ukrainian teenagers.

If you meant Su-25s, (the Russian copy of the competitor to the A-10) yea it would be great if those could work the column under the MiG-29 CAP.

If you meant a MiG-25 (Russian Mach 3.2 interceptor/recon design to defend against B-70s and SR-71s) then I'd love to see some Ukrainian hot shot burn out the engines to drop some bombs full of feces right into Red Square as a morale action.

What if "Ukrainian" pilots fly these donated jets the same way "North Vietnamese" and "North Korean" pilots used to fly MiGs?

What if Russian convoys started blowing up from some "Ukrainian" threat that just couldn't be seen on radar?

Agree that's a good article. My take is for anyone paying attention at all, Putin's gone too far starting a decade or so ago with Georgia, Moldova, and other "frozen conflicts" aka occupations. That and the permanent presidency thing.

Now they've gone too far invading, shelling cities, and killing civilians. Much of the world is awake now, angry, and maybe a little scared. Shit's gotta stop. If not now, when? I think there's a good chance some of Ukraine's neighbors, the EU, NATO, or the US decide to intervene directly. What's going on at the UN, Russia's actions been officially condemned yet?

russia’s surface to air capability covers half of ukraine. if they can shoot down planes so can the ruskies. not that they shouldn’t test it in some capacity though. they need to prevent the east and west from being split, because then it is just that much closer to becoming an all guérilla war.

there’s also the fact that the ports are getting shut, and they might have to reclaim territory at some point.

i read from a dubious source that russia offered them a withdrawal for recognition of crimea, the territories, and no nato and they refused.

i wonder if it was just crimea if they would have gone for it, or if not because russia is obviously an untrustworthy party.

Bulgarian PM denies the country is sending fighter jets.

“In general we lack planes, we can't give the only planes we have to anyone. We have a small number of flying planes, we have a problem with the supply of parts,” the prime minister said.

Having seen A10's doing strafing runs in the Idaho desert, I'd like to imagine a few having their way on that convoy. The noise of those nose guns is unmistakably terrifying. Like a saw. Also crazy how slow they fly, almost like a helicopter.

We also have a B2 squadron nearby that use our mountains for flight practice. They basically look like death. My 6 year old could see one flying and instantly know it's for bad, bad things.

Can we send maybe just a handful of Warthogs and a single B2? Then just deny it, Trump style?

Bulgaria ought to give MiGs and Sukhois to the Ukrainians in exchange for US F-16s and training. Their spare parts problem is only getting worse from this moment forward. Russia is not going to sell NATO spares.
