$20 billion a day smells like bullshit. Afghanistan cost the us $300 million a day (estimated). 100x that for a military that’s paid shit and has cheaper equipment?

    Ukraine

The $350million is in direct arms to Ukraine. There’s billions being asked for by the White House in diplomatic support, humanitarian support, and support for other nations also being threatened by Russia. It’s a lot more than just $350m that’s just the down payment.

    More ominous tweets from Rubio:

    Just to step back.

There are real people dying on both sides. Mothers and fathers are losing sons and daughters. Sons and daughters are losing mothers and fathers.

As ever, I am reminded by my reading of Fisk that the real victims of these conflicts are not the insulated elite, but the common people who typically want nothing other than to live their days in peace.

Ukraine Defense Ministry setting up a hotline for Russian families to check on their soldiers, brilliant. That brings it right home.

Exactly. The contract soldiers make more average is like $750 or something, but there don’t appear to be the contractors making six figures floating around.

Apparently the mobile crematoria are to keep the number of dead secret; hence the Ukraine helpline to find out if your loved ones dead or captured. Grim stuff.

Like the picture of zelensky by the structure with the hand written “Vietnam” in cyrillic

Elon Musk has opened up Starlink over Ukraine, and is sending encrypted Dishys, thus guaranteeing some internet regardless of Lord Pootin's wishes.
Also, Anonymous jacked up the Kremlin's official website today, but even better they took down Lord Poot's tv networks and played Ukrainian music for 6 hours before the Emperor's men could get it back up.

In the early 2000s, something like 75% of Spetsnaz missions were for private individuals or companies. It's how they funded themselves.

Motherfucker won't buy your shit or sell you what you want? Spetsnaz is here to help. Think the cops are gonna stop Spetsnaz? lol Police block traffic for Spetsnaz.

So, how exactly are YOU helping the Ukrainians? Short of chucking everything, buying a one way ticket to Ukraine and waiting to be handed a rifle, there's very little we can do besides voice our outrage at Putin's vicious stupidity and forward/applaud the unbelievable bravery of the Ukrainians. You seem to think that in our anger towards Putin we have no sympathy for the victims of his evil behavior. You could not be more mistaken - the agony you profess is common to us all. If we go too far in direct governmental aid, however, there is a very real risk of Putin feeling cornered enough to start flinging nukes - it's an excruciatingly thin line, and best to fall a little short in our aid rather than go one step to far and trigger even tactical nukes.

Twitter is insane. Outing Miami realtors who sell to the Oligarchs children. 2 mega yachts in Miami that need to be sunk. Someone should sneak about and pull the plug.

Benny's trying to make a valid point, but it's not (directly) related to Ukraine. Probably belongs in another thread. Probably polyass.

    Fuck Putin.

Holy fucking shit dude. Stop and think for a moment. Nothing in Afghanistan compared to the scale of what Russia is doing right now: a land/sea/air battle against a near peer that involves maybe 250K personnel or more, not just the front line.

It is not about paying troops, even if there is deployment pay.

20B might be high, but not that high.

The high price is for the insane amount of ordinance and consumables used to keep the entire fleet in motion, run heavy armor, artillery, rockets, missiles, and their air forces.

    Just some small examples:
*They've been losing a billion a day in aircraft and helos. They lost 2 IL-76s with 300-400 paratroopers today. That ain't cheap.
*They shot off over $2B in Iskandar SRBMs alone on day one.
*If you believe the numbers out there, they've lost over a billion dollars of armor and IFVs.
    *lots of $cruise missiles$

    War is expensive as fuck
