We went there only once (it's way out of our way) on DTM's suggestion and it was absolutely excellent. One of our favorite food experiences in recent memory, but unfortunately, it's just too far out of our way. I wish we lived closer.

We had sushi takeout from Tona tonight, which I still think is seriously underrated. Best things on their menu are the super simple rolls (hamachi escolar has a TON of fish for $9 and is amazing), nigiri sampler ($16 for 6 pieces) and their sashimi omikase, which had a fuckton of very high quality fish on it for $33.

No pics because I'm a scump, but protip: you can get $100 of gift cards for Tona for $80 at Costco in Bountiful or Orem.

Going there in a celebratory mood is dangerous. Way over-ordered and over-consumed. Still not remotely hungry yet this morning.

So, looks like most of our games are up by the U, but I *might* go biking in Corner Canyon if it is dry. Any trail beta, Dan? (I know it’s doubtful)

Right now there is snow in CC, but there wasn’t 10 days ago and there was limited riding available. In two weeks there could possibly be dry singletrack available again.

Hunh. Probably will bring the gravel bike for a lap up emigrant if it’s still moist. Or maybe just ride Shoreline?

I wouldn't count on being able to ride much besides BST, rattler, gas line, etc. Most of CC proper is north facing and wicked clay soil. U/Zoo area is likely to be better.

    Lefties did not suck.

The fatbiking has been holding up really well this year too. AFC has been biblical, and Temple Quarry is running like concrete. HMU if you need beta.

Went last week based upon everyone’s recommendations. Agreed, the spicy numbing beef is great and recommend it to anyone.

Curious tgapp how you can find room for more noodles. If I get back, I was thinking asking for half noodles and extra broth.

    Wife and kids approved

Depending on how much precip we get in the valley next weekend, shoreline between emi and the bottom of dry creek could be good. 60’s this week but looking like a pattern change coming

Thanks for the tips, dudes. My plans changed a wee bit, I have Jason Isbell on the 8th, then going to St. George/Hurrkin, then back to SLC through the weekend. If I have ridden my ass off on Wed/Thursday, I might try and make it for late lunch at MakanMakan on Friday before kiddo’s game.

But it seems like the kind of place where you really, really want to go with 6 or 8 people, and share plates…

Just got here, LOL on my plans to ride anywhere near the city!

In other news, I made it from Jackson to SLC in 3hrs, 50 minutes. My record time.

Went to Nohm tonight. Holy shit. This is easily my favorite new joint in SLC. Absolutely incredible - strongest possible recommendation. If Nohm was in a bigger city it would have a line out the door. Food is Japanese/Korean street food.

Pictured: muchim (pickled vegetables, raw fish, seaweed, gochujong), black pepper fried chicken with pickled daikon, charcoal fried small bites (the chicken heart and skin was incredible), and Oden, which was an out of this world soup/stew featuring homemade fish cake, soft boiled egg, octopus, chicken wing, mushroom, tofu, and some sort of fried bread, all in an incredible broth.

    Can't wait to go back.

Muchim and Oden were the absolute MUST eats. So was the black pepper fried chicken.

I would skip out on the skewer chef's choice set (unless your tastes run more mild and you just want delicious chicken tenders/breast meat) and just get like 5 skewers of chicken skin and chicken heart. YMMV, obviously. But that chicken skin and heart was killer fucking good.

Lunch menu can be vastly different than dinner, per the website looking at lunch menu multiple times over the last year.

Scion is on my list of go-back-to for sure. Tried taking my wife a few weeks ago but something was going on in the area.
Ask for Elis. She’s a Mag. Long brunette hair.
They have a lot of new ciders lately and are starting to brew their own soon as well.
