And then you can travel next door and there's three other French dialects that all seem weirder and less mutually understandable than Quebecoise.

And in other news...... as if we needed proof where the talking points were coming from:

The husband of the leader of the Ottawa protests just told the judge he believes his first amendment rights are being violated.

Judge said “What first Amendment rights?

    Local News:

Man say's neighbour threw a potato and carrot at his house - RCMP

RCMP Release - On Friday, February 18, 2022, at 6:15 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer responded to a dispute between two neighbours in the 600 block of Victoria Street, in Trail, BC.

A 47-year-old Trail man claimed that his elderly neighbour threw a potato and carrot at his house; however, his neighbour appeared bewildered by the accusation when the officer discussed the matter with her.

Trail RCMP concluded the matter, as a single potato and carrot do not make for a cornucopia of evidence.

    Released by:
    Sergeant Mike Wicentowich
    NCO i/c Trail Detachment
    Royal Canadian Mounted Police

Spent some time in Bathurst New Brunswick as a child and no one really speaks English or French in that area. Strange hybrid featuring words that are entirely unique to that region.

My wife teaches French here in Ontario. We went to France for our honeymoon. It was great having someone who could read everything like menus and subway information and whatever. But yes, every single time she spoke French to the locals we'd get an answer back in English. I like to think they were just being polite and responding in a language that I could understand. Yeah, that's the theory I'm sticking with.

Yup, will raise my glass to the Maple Leaf later today.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

Crazy stuff. Coworker just went up to the Yukon on a fire mgmt team. 30C in the higher latitudes is far more intense than lower lats and is no joke.

"Hey Nick, Relic's been stealing our logs!"

Pat John is dead at 69. Probably the first real FN actor playing an Indian I ever saw. And he played it straight. RIP Jesse.

I was a fan. Even if my late cousin (a north van RCMP) arrested him once. Shit, who hasn't been arrested, amirite! Ya with me!
The Beachcomers was good clean fun. RIP Jesse, you blazed a trail for not only First Nation actors but actors of all colours up here.
