I agree that the ice here in the west has never touched the eastern equivalent of iciness (that doesn't look like the correct spelling to me but i'm told it is)

Agreed. I mean there has certainly been “snow” in the Rockies that I can’t get an edge into, but I remember as a kid skiing in NY and seeing grass through the clearish ice.

It's pretty normal where I ski that they post a sign when there are slid-for-life conditions. If you have ever experienced a slide-for-life you won't really think it's gaper at all that there is a warning, shit's scary.

One of my favorite signs (the bottom right one). First saw it in 1992 and it's at the top of Nordkette, an awesome little hill above Innsbruck. The local I was skiing with suggested they put that up after a Japanese tourist fell at the top in a slippery suit and did not have a positive outcome.

When I was there you really did want to ski it after lunch when things had softened up, though I did manage a lap while it was spicey.

The slope percentage is the calculation of rise/run * 100. When the slope is 45 deg the rise and run are equal.

I was asked by a young couple on the chair yesterday how moguls were formed, I thought it was some smart ass comment until I looked at them and sure enough, legit question. I left them dumbfounded when I said we all formed them (pointing to my buddies on the chair).

My wife patrolling this weekend got a complaint about this: "Why did they make the moguls so bike?"

Had my most entertaining lift ride of the season today. Guy was talking to us and he was like "your gloves tell me you are hardcore (kincos of course). Like they say fuck you, I don't care." To be fair, he wasn't wrong.

Got paired up w a guy in head to toe homemade fleece cow print outfit, including cow print jester hat. All 20 years old w skis and poles painted to match. Conversation with the guy went to about how one would expect, story of how his kids were embarrassed, 20 yrs ago, but some friends told them his dad was cool… totally believable story there too.
