On @I70things stories, all people do is post how they can’t believe there’s mega traffic at 5:45am [emoji23][emoji23]
Gold Jerry, Good
Lol; I just got sucked into that. Maybe you need the app but it’s way more than people bitching about traffic. funny doggeh stoke there too. More like a not so eclectic collection of what us I70 denizens see pretty regularly.
Saw a 50 caddie just rolling. A 30s(?) packard, that boxer in the back of the “Forerunner” is priceless.
Loved this guy:

Surprised by that. He left Highlands at 5:45 and pulled into Breck at 9:05. Maybe he was giving himself a little credit on the departure time…
Got some long distance GT training to do out of Silverthorne tomorrow. Hoping to leave after the initial rush dies down. Over or under 10:00am to at least keep in < 2 hours to Silverthorne?

Wife says that was the time you needed to be past the dino lots on the good days 15 years ago.5:45am isn’t early enough is the theme these past few weekends
Tuesday is the new Sunday. Just sayin. I hope I don't live to the day where it all loops around to one big Saturday.

We got a road rage complaint this morning. Guy swerving, unsafe lane changes, throwing trash out his window. As my deputy was initiating the stop, guy swerves across all lanes, and jumps out of his vehicle to confront another driver. My deputy has him pull off the road to have a chat as the vehicle he was trying to confront drove by with a bunch of kids waving and laughing.
No idea who started what/who was more at fault, but the guy who stops traffic to confront someone in Saturday skier traffic probably deserves a summons and a lecture.
This is the secret that's not so secret. From C-470 to top of Floyd Hill, you can pretty much roll past everyone by simply utilizing the right lane. All you have to do is pass a few slow trucks along the way. Key is to get right back in the right lane once you pass a slow truck.
If you think about it, there are always a greater number of vehicles in the far left lane, so when speeds are slow, the math makes sense to be in the lane with less vehicles.
sounds aggressive
Great I guess, but now slower traffic has to contend with drivers jockying for position in all lanes.
Unfortunate that desperate (and often illegal) measures are sometimes necessary due to left lane campers (also illegal), but guess who gets contacted/ticketed more?

I'm about the least aggressive, minivan-driving, grandpa-tune listening driver out there, and HBM's strategy is exactly what I do. I'm not cutting people off aggressively or swerving through a bunch of traffic.
Middle and center lanes are for passing. The right lane is for driving. Use all lanes until the merge to maximize throughput. Those are the rules I was taught for driving on the highway and they seem to work out pretty well in the I70 clusterfuck.
In my experience drivers in this state are severely averse to the idea of letting people over, so much so I feel like people floor it the second you put on a turn signal and I'd rather not deal with that but more power to you! IDK I just try to avoid driving to denver altogether so my I70 experience is more limited than most.
Pro tips you punters
West bound
Left lane outa Morrison flash lights tap horn as needed
Top of mt Vernon use right lane to pass weave as much as you need to never use a signal no one is paying attention
Floyd hill downhill yer stuck Left lane only
Once hit the bridge at 90 and some trucker thought o was too close a tooted his horn pussy
Weave flash lights as much as you can into Idaho and threw on the exit of Idaho right lane is your passing zone easy 80 mph
The straight away to Dumont floor it every one thinks their cool cause it's straight so they think they can drive almost assholedd a construction vehicle one late nite sorta fucked up but good reflexes
Wanker park takes some of the traffic usually 90 to 85 through g town you gotta weave a watch people for the set up pick wose gonna barf 1/3 of the way up don't wanna get stuck behind them get ahead read traffic a mile or two ahead
After g town ill it's gravy flash lights pass on right as needed
Tunnel out is OK done 100 a few times lost control slightly on a snowy nite in the far right lane put it in 4th gear watch the fruit cakes ride breaks the whole way down
Jocky up trailerthorne hill exit right if it's jacked use the 2nd exit
I do suggest nipsey hussle or 2pac for the drive puts you where you need to be for agreesive type a driving always use two hands unless shifting
