For those of you who have successfully plugged Swiss cheese and remounted Lhasa’s, any particular tips or suggestions? Or proceeded as normal with any ski?

I stuffed all the holes with JB weld wood epoxy putty. Planed smooth and treated as a virgin ski when remounting.

I’m bringing my lhasas back from the dead and having analysis paralysis.

Years ago I went to a quiver where I’m either inbounds or touring so I have those bases covered. The resurrected Lhasa will be a moderate soft snow and lift served hiking/touring setup (dare I call it sidecountry…), and may double as a one ski travel setup.

Can’t decide on binding…
Tecton - best on weight and touring, worst on inbounds performance. But probably good enough inbounds?
Shift - middle option, but can be super finicky
Duke PT - worst on weight, best on performance. Don’t love the removable toe piece design

Anyone using these bindings on their Lhasas and have an opinion?

I've got a pair of Lhasas that I'm going to CASTify.
But they are already drilled for Pivots.

Safest decision is probably to sell them to me (are they 191s?).

I put Tectons on mine, (that were originally drilled for first gen. Dukes). I have 2 other lightweight touring set ups, so these go with my Cochise for a “heavy” set up. They work well, getting in the toe can be finicky, but I don’t ski inbounds with these on coral reef days, so they work very well. They are a bit more upright than my Pivots, so I put a wedge in my boots behind my calf to get more lean.

Lhasa Pow Nation,
Two questions from an original 191 (2009/10) owner:
Thoughts on a +2cm mount (104 cm straight pull from tip).
Worth pulling off original mounted Barons on the 106cm line and drilling for STH2, which would result in 1.5 cm between front holes and the aforementioned move to +2cm?

If you care about the why...I loved the LPs as my sole powder skis until 2 years ago when I got a pair of 190 Wildcats. I've tried to love the Wildcats, but it's more of a like relationship. So I'm thinking about bringing some life back to the LPs. I haven't toured for several years, so the Barons are just weighing them down. I've also always felt I would like the LPs mounted a little farther forward, but was thinking 1 cm not 2 cm forward. In summary, how much better performance/feel will I get from STH2s at +2cm verses the tradeoff of adding a second binding mount to an irreplaceable set of skis...

My mounting point references: I think 107 cm from the tip was the origin recommended line, which they quickly changed to 106 cm for 2009/10. I have no idea where the recommended line settled after that.

I’d consider looking at different bindings (print off the paper templates and do some measuring to figure out what your options are) to see if you could mount closer to the line. [emoji2]I can’t imagine +2cm would ski very well.

Depends on what year the bindings are, but you might be able to reuse the existing Barron holes for jesters or other marker bindings. Can still use wood screws and epoxy for the second mount, or if you get a spinner move to binding freedom inserts

Thanks Muggydude. I spent a few hours messing around with templates today. Seems like everything is a compromise with either the toe or heel pattern. Even with Jester/Griffon, the toe pattern is somewhat compatible, but the heel is a mess.

May have to stick with the Barons

Barons skied with alpine soles have a 0mm delta, which may or may not be the reason you feel like moving slightly forward.

See if Pivots fit. I think the may, at least closer than 2cm
