What makes you think I’m anti-science?

That could not be further from the truth.

Two employees dead of COVID and one spouse. No idea of vax status, but I'm going with probably not vaxed. Someone on my floor who is vaxed got the COVID. Mild symptoms. She was on a conf. call with our team from home to give us the bad news on Friday. Fortunately she was only in the office one day, and I had no contact with her. They sent about 6 people home that did have contact. Every one is masked but it sounds like these cloth masks don't cut it with the Delta variant. Seems like a good time to go back to the WFH thingy again.

Wondering if the Mu variant will require an all new formula for vaccination.

Some people sure feel strongly about ostracism.

It’s almost as if they have never made a mistake in their life?

Speaking of gaslighting and whatsboutism, back when this all started Steep was not only on team it's no worse than the flu, he took it a step further arguing that "there's nothing novel about this particular strain of coronavirus."

Maybe he's changed his mind about SARS2 being no worse than a common cold, but when it comes to gaslighting Steep featured prominently in the politically motivated strain of people opposing the provision of public goods by denying the problems existence.

So it's ironic he's now saying hey look, the government needs to use coercion to mandate public goods in the form of vaccines when he's played a role in the politicization & conspiracy theories surrounding vaccines that's common in the US even though he himself supports vaccines.

This would be proof that when presented with information I change my mind. Which I did pretty damn fast if you care to search.

And if you do search note what I said about how long vaccine immunity would last.

The key to the decline in the death rate is proportional with the speed w/ which people have been vaccinated. While talking about how long vaccine immunity lasts (the B & T cell response may well last a lifetime) or whether SARS2 becomes endemic is fine, the way you're trying to frame the issue by politicizing it, is not:

"These people are so dug in on their refusal that 'it will all be fine if everyone gets vaccinated' starting to sound a lot like 'gun violence won’t exist if we take all the guns'"

A number of people have burned a lot of bridges on here and returned to the community, you've been around long enough to have seen it happen. Most didn't return preaching. Taking time to repair a reputation is hard work, many of the former posters came back with different names to avoid the baggage associated with their previous actions. I can see why people are treating you the way they did before, when you post with the same style of trying to get into a conflict. There are ways to say the same thing without that. Honestly starting with one of the threads that isn't so divisive might help.

I posted what I did cuz I wanted a straight answer. I knew I’d get some shit. But it was worth it cuz I know people in here don’t let shit slide as far as false information. I got what I was looking for and I appreciate it.

And I actually don’t wanna preach, it’s douchy. But I also don’t want to run from my mistakes.

Steep is a great example of exactly how not to be on the internet. I think that is his only redeeming feature.

I just learned that one of my oldest, longevity and age, ski friends is in the hospital with Covid. He’s 70 something and unvaccinated. I kind of lost touch with him, he went full Trumptard in ‘15 and got lost in it all. I hope he pulls through, in general he’s a pretty decent guy.
