I’m curious as well. I’m hoping Scott does another podcast with Blister as that seems to give a ton more detail. The website doesn’t list a lot of info (Mount point for example).
I’ve always been tempted by the Jeffrey/Kartel lines. I don’t think they match my style of skiing as I just love Wren’s. In my head, a Jeffrey 110 would be a fun counterpart to my Wren 114’s for playful mess around skiing but logically I know the Woodsman would likely be a better counterpart… and I should really just buy some Billy Goats and be done with it.
Well of course it does not change hugely from year to year. I know the differences in the last 116 I had (2016 ?) besides the 2mm is that the core profile has changed since then as well as a I believe the tip taper and sidecut type. I don't know. It just skis real well.

I JUST bought a W102, while keeping my J108's, and J118. My thinking is that on softer days I want ski more playful, and less soft days I want to mash just a little bit more, but not full wren. Ideally I'm hoping to capture the feel of the original Vicik just a tiny bit more. And have definitely wished for a tiny bit more on harder days where I was on the J108.
Training for Alpental
Jeffrey/Kartel116s have always skied well and been more capable in difficult snow than what is arguably the norm in the wider freestyle ski segment.
There has been a lot of subtle tweaks in its design and layup since they were first introduced, with some minor or major updates introduced most years. Sure, the changes are kinda subtle at times, but they all add up. So while nobody is claiming that they are a different beast, refinement over a lot of years should yield a ski that is pretty damn dialed
I would love to try a pair of the new 118s (having owned a custom stiffer k116s previously), but alas - there are other skis in the range that suits me better - I do not jive with long tails and centered mount points, even when the skis have this much splay.

Ok, here’s a sizing question. Buying some skis as a birthday present for my kid. He’s 19, 165lb and about 5’-11”. Currently on 184cm Marksman as daily drivers. Kid absolutely shreds. Out in SLC.
He wants a pair of Jeffs he can use on days when he wants to jump and do rails but also bum around the whole mountain. Bumming around for him is still mach60 with huge air.
Trying to figure out model and length to look for used for him. 102 or 108? 181 or 186? He’s good enough that whatever he gets he’ll rip it, but I’m trying to make a good choice.
Any thoughts?

I'd say 186 108. I've been skiing different iterations of it for almost a decade in MT. First as my DD for 5-6 years, now as my dick around ski (I hit less jumps now than I did in my 20s).
I'm 5'9", and have weighed between 155-170 lbs over the years I've been on it. Never wish I had anything shorter, longer, narrower, or wider FWIW.
Used to DD Jmos (101mm) in a 181. Have also DD Kartel 106s in a 176. I am 175cm (5'9").
181 better for mobbin round tha mountain, 176 better for jibs/rails, but still very mobbin round the mountain capable.
If he DD a 184 K2, he could handle a 186, but if he's like me.. he might prefer the ski closer to his height (181) for rails/jibs while still being able to fuck round the mountain. I imagine a 181 ON3P is just as (if not more) stable than a 184 Marksman due to flex/materials/shape.. even if you are losing a few cm.
I agree with Session, go 181cm. I would say go J102 if you can find them, if not the 108 is also great choice. I replaced my 176cm Kartel 106s with a 176cm 108 for rails/jibs/DD because I missed my ole ones so much.

184 Marksman measure in at 185 straight pull according to Blister, so the 186 Jeffrey is the closest in size, even if it probably is a bit stouter underfoot.
The choice of 102 vs 108 comes down to what you want to be the skis side hussle imho; park/rails, go 102, more versatile in deeper snow go 108. Both will do all mountain well and both will be better in soft snow than their width suggest.
Or, as he is used to 106 Marksman I would probably keep it consistent and get a pair of 108s if you can find them used, especially as you get dry snow where you live (no?). It is ON3P's most sold model for a reason - awesome ski.
Thanks for all this is excellent info. That’s why I love this place. Sounds like a case could be made for 181 or 186 depending on what he’s looking for.
After talking with him I think he wants a slightly shorter version compared to what he has. Easier for flips and spins. I’ll look for a 181 in a 102 or 108. Plus those marksman he’s on are the longest size they came in, so he already has a good ski for big fast lines. These Jeffs will be for playing.
Thanks everyone. I appreciate the help.
Who else would get in on a 189 Wren 114 buy?
I'm pretty sure that if I'm going to buy one ski at retail price this year, that'd be the one I want
Does it require a group buy, can't it be ordered through the standard custom process? I am pretty sure that it can - the same goes for the jeff9s, wren96s and wren108s.
have you tried Gear Swap? It might be that somebody have a pair that they are willing to part ways with![]()
Re: sizing do you expect him to put on any more weight (I know at 19 could go either way). If not, 181 fine. 20 more lbs and the 186 (in an everyday) role becomes a lot more viable. In a ski to just mess around on, 181 plenty stable.
So to me - at current height/weight - 181cm J102 for mess around ski, 181cm J110 for serious ski (which sounds like the Marksman is currently covering).
Seriously, this can’t turn into yet another ON3P thread....
Jake limited edition top. Concept was basically what if you have this grandiose thing - in this case the universe - and at its center you had this relatively mundane object - in this case a mango - that everything, in fact, revolved around.
Bit dated but...
The RES design doesn't really jive with the type of skiers generally on that platform.

Damn, thanks Igg. I appreciate you chiming in. He’ll get heavier but not for a while. His home mountain is Alta, and based on what he’s hucking himself off of even ON3Ps might not last long enough for him to gain much weight! He tried my 186 J108s and decided he wanted something a little shorter - which I think is because he wants to use them for flips, 3s and 7s and they are easier to get around.
I went 181 so I’m glad you think that’ll work. Then when he folds his marksman in half I’m thinking he’ll go Jeff or Woods. Won’t be long.
Kid is a helluva skier but that beats the crap out of skis. Can’t afford not to get ON3P. Need the durability.
Thanks again. Awesome intel.
Thanks, Iggy!!! Looks so dope. The custom black that's offered now isn't really solid black anymore, right? It's got the same waves in it that you can see a bit easier in the builder when selecting a custom teal or pink, right? And it's still the same matte "topcoat" effect that all the other topsheets have right?
Since this stuff is all in stock, how does the Wren Pro compare to the 186 Vicik? As I got heavier, I always wished for a 189 Vicik. Would the 186 Wren 110 Pro achieve the same goal? I honestly keep forgetting about the 189 Wren 102ti, that's probably the ski. I also really liked the Tychoons when I was little lighter weight (under 190lbs), and again wanted a 189 as I got heavier..
I've been skiing blacks and double blacks until I got more into park skiing two years ago. Before, I just used rental skis which were meant for all mountain (and were mounted really far back from true center) to jump and do safeties with as well as fail 360s in the park. After getting really into park and deciding on ON3Ps, I saved up enough to buy them. I'm thinking of buying the Jefferey 102s since they aren't too wide and are great for park as well as all mountain. I'm a little under 5' 11" and weigh about 140lbs. If I want to do butters and spins while also having some stability on blacks, what length should I get? As for the binding mounting point, I heard that -1.5 from true center is a good spot for park on ON3Ps but I am wondering how well would that mounting point fit what I want to do. Thanks!
181 will be better for butters/spins/rails/jib, but the 186 will be the more stable option. I’d personally go 181 at your height/weight for what you’re looking for, but getting an opinion directly from ON3P (call or email), wouldn’t be a bad idea.
On mount, I believe the 181 Jeff 102 has a recommended mount of -4cm from center (someone correct me if I’m wrong). I would never go farther than +2cm from recommended.. or -2cm from center. The designers of the ski would agree, and I have felt a bit of squirrelly-ness when mounting outside of the +2cm mark. If you insist on mounting forward of the line, I think +1 or +1.5 would be the way to go. I find -2.5 from center to be a real nice spot on the more playful ON3P offerings.
