You are correct, but the key issue is providing a limiting nutrient in excessive quantities resulting in an algal bloom/explosion that then collapses and the resulting decomposition sucks up all the O2. If it's also a toxic blue-green algae you're royally F'd.

If done in the mid-ocean deserts, in perfectly balanced applications, it does seem like limited benefit might be achieved, but I don't think any reliable studies have been done encompassing the entirety of those regions (including the abyssal depths) - not even sure if such study is practical. I can't bring myself to assume that rationality would reign.

I'm gonna have to read more in the topic but I still don't see what temporarily sequestering oxygen (it will be eventually released again through decay is my understanding) in areas where nothing is using that oxygen still seems harmless. And even if it was toxic algae there's nothing living there for it to hurt and the algae growth would stop when the iron is consumed. I think.

Just read that dropping dry ice into a hurricane was disproven as a means of lessening its fury for the final time.

^^^ iron isn’t like nitrogen or other fertilizer. It only helps when it is in short supply and then it doesn’t add any further growth once it is available.

The wiki page on iron fertilization is pretty informative: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_fertilization

    So is this article: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/scien...nge-180973893/

Interestingly the same people who think climate change is a hoax by evil scientists "who want our trucks and guns and hate freedom" or that "we cannot influence gods mighty clouds", are sure that influencing a much more complex and chaotic System AD hoc (as opposed to just injecting more heat into it long term) is totally reasonable if some secret George soros pizza Satanist is behind it. (And by influencing I don't mean seeding clouds to save our great communist olympics)
The climate is fucked. Humans have become parasites.

How can the recent all time high temp of 121F in western Canada be higher than the all time high of Las Vegas?

Blue sky high pressure days fry my skin. I think there’s a serious problem with ozone and UV intensity.

And yet here we are shooting more rockets than ever. And now it’s not even science or satellites.
We get joyrides and space “tourism”. Fuck you Bezos.

A mill near the small town I grew up in released a lot of steam and it sometimes rained around the mill when it wasnt elsewhere nearby.

    Does that count?

I would love it if simply applying some iron would help us get a handle on climate change; I'm just skeptical of our understanding of the entire process. Managing such a huge and complex system should be approached with extreme caution.

Maybe somebody can let me know in understandable terms how we are making the places hotter these past weeks. The climate is dynamic no? Or are we all just blasting our heaters and pumping out heat (No)? It is because the climate is dynamic and ever-changing.

Yes, we can pollute and create toxic environments that will even kill people (slowly too), we can deforest and put up damns that destroy riparian communities, and we can keep paving paradise. But Humans are not changing the climate. It has and will continue to change because it is dynamic. We have had many ice ages not 1. Unfortunately, if you look at the Ice Core data you will understand that 85% of the time this great blue ball is actually quite unhospitable.

And weather modification is fine as long as you refer to it as Cloud Seeding and not da Chem Trailz. Interestingly if you talk to water quality specialists and ask them if they test for Aluminum, Barium, or Strontium they will say "NO".

Don't look into the nano-particle patents where they discuss super charging the ionosphere and moving storms either, that is just rubbish, even though they spent the money on the patents I am sure it is nonsense.

Or how certain countries are toying with the idea of blocking the sun (with particles) to limit heating, guess what else would be limited by that - Growing Food not to mention Solar Panels.

Flame away but I don't care and I am not going to change my mind or even yours.

Before the internet, NakedShorts had to stand on the street corner with hand written signs and flyers made up at the local library to explain how the world REALLY works to the sheeple.

NakedShorts is so ignorant I don’t want to quote him.

Human development has fucked this planet in a short time.

Yes. Over millennia and eons there have been lots of changes. Huge ones.
But to deny what we have done is ignorant.
And yet you admit to aluminum and nano etc blah blah.

    They paved paradise

Here is his band, singing about chem trails. He actually learned German to join them.
Edit: and I really like how he gets from cloud seeding to nano particle world domination in two easy steps. [emoji813]

The idea of dropping ice cubes in a hurricane was pretty good. But then he went full treadmill on an airplane.

Should I start a new thread to discuss if planes circling a hurricane can extinguish it?

That depends on whether the steel eating sailor Squirrels are vaccinated or not and if the ships have bitcoin mining rigs on board.
