Crew doing some overhead high voltage power line upgrades today dropped the 3-phase from the pole to our well, the weight of the lines coming down pulled the mast away from the external wall to the outside shutoff, breaking the lines and looks like it sparked pretty good. Now I have no power to the well. Said they could replace the high voltage lines in about 30 minutes and it will be good. Hmmm. I hope I left them with the understanding that it better be fixed, fixed right and not screw up the rotation on the pump, asap. I don't know how easy/hard that is to do since our regular facilities guy is gone for the weekend. I am pretty annoyed right now and wondering what else could possibly go wrong on a Friday before a long holiday weekend.

Many companies in CO don't cover glass without a separate rider. They don't call it a "Colorado windsheild" for nothing.

Glass rider through progressive was around $100 per year per car for our vehicles when I looked a few months ago, plus a $50 (I think) deductible. So basically if I replace less than one windshield a year we are on top.

Windshield repair is in the 4 figures if you have cameras that have to be recalibrated, and you have to go to the shop, no driveway repairs. And if you have insurance they may refer you to a company that can't handle the cameras. Last time it took a few calls back and forth to get cleared to go to Safelite, which seemed to be the only outfit in town outside the dealers that could do it.

Are you expecting the high V crew to monitor your well pump during start up? Can I assume that you will be standing a safe distance away but close enough to immediately scream NONONONONONO when the shit gets sucked in to the jet engine?

    Goddam bunch of tech bullshit.

I just checked my email - our last windshield was on our 2014 F150 and cost $225.

Luckily, it broke at the breaker outside the building before the meter, before the power box / submonitor inside the building, before the pump, so they couldn't screw up the rotation. When I turned it back on to auto start I did step a few feet away, lol. I made the linesman stand there and watch it.

Anything with the well is just a nightmare to deal with because the pump sits at around 860 ft and is a bitch to pull. For some reason, I am usually the only one around when shit goes sideways with it, and I get really annoyed. They got the power lines fixed and hooked back up to the breaker (luckily we installed the additional breaker about 6 months ago so it paid for itself today) outside the building and it started up fine. The submonitor on the pump is set really sensitive to protect the pump. I just check it again and all three phases are still within threshold and water is flowing.

They are also really lucky they didn't burn the building down or start a range fire.

I drove 400 miles home from my wedding with "honk if you like sex" on the window of my truck. Utah was pretty quiet.

Now, THAT might have been worth some Venmo cash. However, Utahans LOVE sex.

I put in an invisible fence the spring i got the dog, but i don't use it. Last summer I graded some of the back yard, and rolled up part of the wire and placed it against a tree. Intention is once I get some lawn stabilized I'll train the dog.

The dog goes back there on a lead to do his business. For the most part it's out of the way/woods, so I'm not very diligent about turd cleanup.

Mowing the lawn (read: weeds) tonight and saw that I was going to snag a stray loop of wire a second too late. No biggie, I cut the engine and it was barely wrapped around the blade, was easily able to pull it off with bare hands..

That's when I realized the whole mess went through a giant pile of dog shit before it stopped.

Our local scanner is going nuts with all the reported fires. Auto storage yard burned destroying 20 cars. Idiot driving around wheat and hay fields throwing fireworks out of the car window setting a silo on fire. Etc. Etc. Etc.

    Why is this still allowed?

One last hurrah in King Co, fireworks will be against the law in unincorporated next year.
One cat, Spif, is relatively mellow, but Mr. Spud is wired up pretty tight tonight.
The ground got pretty dried out in the het, so this one's spooky here in the woods.

I'm pretty sur driving around wheat and hay fields throwing fireworks out the window is not allowed. As in felony arson.

Lightest week for fireworks here in many years, after last year being the worst. I think the Trumptards were the driving force last year, maybe they're in hiding.

edit: I guess that post should have been in the "Things you're totally fine with" thread.

Being a Sunday I was hopeful it would remain relatively quiet as it was Saturday night.
I was DEAD WRONG. 3 solid hours of mortar sounding fireworks till 1am, the huge booms.
Worst year of fireworks since moving to Sandy.

    Not many here either.

Did have to yell at renters behind us to knock off the fireworks they were letting off early afternoon though. No more were heard from them.

And it was good to see that the Baptist church just outside of city limits didn't run their month long firework stand. The Christian thing to do, at last.

The pup didn't seem to be at all worried by what there were. He also backed up my yelling at neighbors with some impressive barking.

It was the opposite here. It started on the 3rd, and it won't surprise me if they pick up again tonight.

Fucking dumbass neighbours lit fireworks for Canada Day for a whopping 1.45 hours. Mostly really good ones too, I'm guessing it was well over a thousand CAD worth. Too bad they were going off directly over my house.

They were lighting them on their tiny side yard. Meanwhile there is a school with a massive field directly beside them. My house is across the street from them, and there's another big field behind my house. WTF

Police eventually came by but that was unrelated, just a car a few houses down got shot up.

Spent the next morning picking this shit out of my backyard and gardens.

    Shit that annoys you

One neighbor relies on honking for pickups. Not “I’ll be there in around 15 so watch the window” and not “I’ll text you when I’m there.” Honking. Across the board. Grandparents, friends, etc.

This is the only neighbor who does this. Out of the whole neighborhood, if you hear a car horn, it’s the dingbats next door picking somebody up.

Annoys me to no end. Just happened now and I just yelled at them “use your fucking cell phone!” They waved. My girlfriend thinks I’m a douche. She’s obviously right. But still, what’s with the fucking honking?
    focus.
