Even after the 2nd shot there's a 10% chance. So all the antivaxers will keep this thing going for a bit even when the world is mostly vaccinated.

KQ--couldn't you get the shot and keep your hair long? I've had no luck convincing my wife to do that but maybe you would do it for your fans.

Did you call a specific Walmart to get on the list?

My hair is soooooooooooooo long that I can cut off a foot and it will still be to my shoulders. It's crazy long - needed to be cut before the pandenmic began. I'm like Crystal Gayle I tell ya.

Paper last night reported there will be 1k possibly 2.5k doses for this clinic. I have 2 friends who volunteered and both got jabbed so fingers crossed. If not... oh well...I need to volunteer more and at this point it's not that far off.
    Fingers crossed for you KQ

I see that Utah is last of the US states/territories for getting shots into arms: https://www.beckershospitalreview.co...-march-15.html

    What's up with that?

More interesting to me is, what's up with DC? 49 out of 51? And their population is proportionately small and what, I assume, not anti-vaxxers. TX,GA,UT, I can kind of see based on the overall mindsets but DC is politically opposite of those three.

Maybe not prioritized because they aren't a state?

Actually, found what I think is the answer. DC has one of the lowest median age of the states and DC. Utah is even lower which probably answers Adolf's question.

Can't you just put your hair up. That's even allowed in the military.

Keep us updated. I have to work midnight to noon exactly 30 hours from my scheduled shot 2. I see myself powering through miserably.

Just read that CO will be allowing anyone over 16 to get a shot starting this Friday. They must be getting a shitload of doses in soon.

Not around here they aren’t. Maybe in more rural areas though.

    Looking at the map here:

Would seem to confirm your hypothesis

Colorado and Washington are similar in population percentage vaccinated (20th and 21st, respectively) and also tend to be younger (42 and 38, respectively). So, both are a bit younger in population and are fairly high in percentage vaxxed. It would make sense that CO is opening up to younger ages since the state is comparatively young. It would for WA, too but we're not. I'm still a little perplexed as to why we aren't opening up more. WA won't make Biden's May 1 eligibility for all at our current schedule even though they claim they will. Currently no plan.

I'm going to riff on that a bit and say it's too much plan - or at least too little flexibility. For *reasons* Olympia doesn't want the counties to deviate from the state's plan even if appointments go unfilled. Whether that's fair or not is in the arm of beholder, but seems to be throwing pragmatism to the wind. Any opportunity to vaccinate any resident that isn't taking the spot of another should be taken.

21% middle when 22% is tops now is a pretty low range, no? Talk to me when it would get a D in school.

I would absolutely agree. Just what I saw with Walla Walla County last week when trying to talk KQ into getting in really illustrated that point. On the day of their vaccine clinic, there were 1,070 unfilled slots meaning they had the shots there but wouldn't allow her to sign up since she didn't meet the eligibility requirements. Therefore, those 1,070 available doses were held for another time rather than put in arms. It's a really uneven distribution and vaccination effort with time wasting when shots in arms as quickly as possible is what's the overriding priority in the minds of most. Even now, she has a 4/3 'volunteer' appointment with no guarantee of getting it. Crazy.

Lots of people in my neck of the woods (including me) have been traveling elsewhere precisely because vaccines are more available there. I don't know whether that's because people in those areas aren't demanding vaccines or because they're getting an inequitable amount of doses, but I have my suspicions.

    Yep.

Seems like they could've opened up in more. smaller stages/age groups if the uptake is falling so much. Jumping to everyone gets it in a months time is going to create a massive back log.
