Highly recommended. Cheap and easy, and made a big difference.

After running all my liners through these, I've settled on an old dalbello powerwrap (little thinner, little softer). Touring is less good, but still fine with upper buckles undone.
I've taken to modding to improve the forward flex though. The lateral and rear flex is stiff enough (no lupo carbon), still wanted a deeper forward flex, a la the lupos. I've removed the top buckle and just run a booster over the cuff. Has just enough give before the boot flex kicks in. With the top buckle closed it's just too stiff for rough terrain (for my taste). I just don't feel in maximum control without a lot of ankle flexion. Extra alpine spoiler in there too.
I removed the lowest buckle too, cuz it's dumb.
I still like the lupos better for skiing, but with this mod it's close (in soft snow), and these are sized to actually tour in.
or you could run the Scouts...
Problem with that is I'm an aggressive, dynamic skier, so I need the stiffest one ;-)
But seriously, we all know the softer versions of boots do weird shit. Take the mercury for example, flex was fine. I even removed the bump stops. But it always got a little weird when the going got rough, in ways I'm sure the Vulcan wouldn't have. I could have run the Vulcan with no tongue, where the Mecury with no tongue was a twisting piece of garbage. Always regretted not spending that $200.
The real problem is I'm trying to turn a two-piece into something that skis like a 3 piece. Just putting it out there that it's working good, for anyone who might be thinking: "I wished these super rigid lightweight boots flexed better". Which is, let's face it, a lot of people.
I'm just teasing ya, dood.
But serialllllly, the Scout has the same lower, but a smoother-flexing upper without the carbonification ... it has given full chubbs to a few aggressive dynamic skiers round ere and should be considered an absolutely worthy (and cheaper) option alongside the Pro

What the f with the forward lean screws? Are the literally soldered in? Immediately stripped them all. Now not even sure what to do. Is this a known thing? I mean I am an idiot clutz but this seemed a little bizarre

It is the most badass loctite for a reason. Everyone loves screw removable shit on their boots until you’re in the middle of nowhere and those screws loosen and fall out..
A heat gun or even a cheap soldering iron will heat the screws up to soften the loctite and make them easier to remove.

Do those forward lean screws even have enough adjustment to make a difference or one that you can notice? Aren't they like a 1 degree change?
Placebo effect
the first year of Maestrale had threaded fasteners which all fell off, I think reason for threaded fastners was that changing a broken Lazer instep buckle requires a shop press SO Scarpa made the follow on product easy which turned out to be too easy,
Actualy 2 sets of hands, 3 very big screwdrivers and a six pak could change that instep buckle at home
