These days, I guess I would just take pictures of the back and front of the card, and make a quick and dirty file with all of the customers info and what they bought.

My card does, although the numbers and name are usually illegible and have to be written in by hand. Which makes the machine redundant. I've had my card run through one of those at least once in the last 2 years, and have had my cc info written down. Internet outages are getting more common, not less.

Snowblower spat out the oil fill cap this morning and sprayed oil everywhere including all over me and my puffy coat. [emoji35][emoji35]
Not like there was any urgency to clear the plow berm and get out of my driveway - only 15" reported and first truly decent day if the year .

Well, no, because I can’t make a copy of your paper file from a basement apartment in China.

Garbage truck comes really early, like 6:30. So either we put the trash/recycle out the night before to feed the animals and have it strewn across the yard and then covered by snow, or we wake up at 6am to put it out. Fuckers.

I don’t know why those aren’t required everywhere. I guess we got used to them early on in Truckee/Tahoe

Some places don't really need them. I keep my trash outside year round and while I used to put a rock on it, I stopped. As long as the lid is closed the birds and wind stay out. So far the Raccoons have stayed away. However, if I lived further out, yes, I would be more concerned. Up at my in-laws the Black Bears can be an issue if precautions are not taken. In the summer they come down the mountain and raid the black berry patch.

I just know plenty of places that they make sense and folks don’t have them.

After a year of searching, seeing a job posting for JUST the type of position I've been looking for with a great company (Me: "FINALLY! YES!"), scrambling to tweek my resume for the specific role, going through their lengthy website sign up and application process, just to get a "This page does not exist" notification. They removed the listing during the time I was applying. Either they filled the role right away or had someone in mind where the listing was just a formality, or maybe the listing was a mistake altogether, but still. I'm supremely qualified for the job, so feels a bit deflating.

My local credit union. I want to like them but they are just not that great at being a bank.

I tried to deposit a check through mobile deposit yesterday, and the system kept rejecting it, telling me that the info on the check couldn't be read (even though it was perfectly visible) and said make sure to take the picture against a dark background (it was) with all edges shown (they were) and no shadows (there weren't any). I tried their online chat and the tech told me to do all sorts of things like abandon their app and use their website on my phone, wtf? Finally, after I continued to complain about the rejection message and how I had done all it asked me to do, I finally said the magic words (I guess): can you look at the images and tell me why? Only then did she say "yes, I can look at those, hold on" (no idea why that was not the first thing she did). Success, I thought. Except she came back with "our office looked at the pictures and they look fine, we don't know why the system is rejecting it. Can you come into a branch?" WTF?

There have been a ton of powder weekends the last few years here in SLC, and my new normal reaction to this is, "Welp, not going skiing Saturday!"

old normal was for many decades: "it'll be crowded but worth it, woooooooohooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

    shit is ruined.

You’ve got to follow up with somebody there and contact them. I’m sure you can get hold of an HR person at least and tell them what happened. At minimum you can send a LinkedIn message to somebody there.

If you’re off at 1pm, you should be able to get a good buzz on by meeting time.

Are you being paid for this mandatory social hour? If not, just ghost ‘em.
