We still need snow in Vermont under 2000’ and north of Route 4. Monday night Tuesday looks good for 10. And then the end of this coming week looks promising as well.

Anyone know how strict Dartmouth ski way is on the uphill season pass thing? Looks like they only have an uphill season pass, no day option. Was looking for some way to get some turns in with this upcoming storm.

Hmmmmmmm..... how many times does this need to be rehashed?!

Your Petri dish is not another’s Petri dish!!! How GD hard is this to understand? If you are a skier, you are in the 1%, just watch Netflix & chill.

Also anyone know if you need to buy an ascutney uphill ticket? Couldn’t see it on their site so I’m assuming no.

I think the chairlift at whaleback is down for an extended time? Dartmouth doesn't really check on uphill passes

Last, but not least, a popsicle wannabe roaming around Mendon

    DATE/TIME: On January 31, 2021, at approximately 0300 hours

INCIDENT LOCATION: Killington Mountain, Killington, Vermont

    INCIDENT: Lost Snowboarder

    NAME: Raymond Park

    AGE: 49

CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Killington, Vermont

    SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On January 31, 2021, at approximately 0300 hours, Vermont State Police received a report of a lost snowboarder in Killington on the back side of the Killington Ski Area. Raymond Park was snowboarding at Killington before going out of bounds. After several hours of trying to return to the trail, he sent his GPS location to a friend just before he lost power to his phone. State Police Search and Rescue and Killington Search and Rescue Teams located Park at 0800 hours in good condition. Temperatures overnight were approximately -13 degrees. Killington Ski Area has a boundary marker to prevent skiers and riders from leaving the ski area boundary. Skiers and riders are reminded to always stay within the ski area boundaries, let someone know where they are going and if venturing off into the back country, be prepared to spend the night in the woods.

Another tour in SoVT for us on Sunday 1-31-2021....very similar to last Saturday's (same locale). Temps near zero at the start but no breeze and bright sun made it more than bearable.

Nobody had skinned up behind us all week (we had broken trail for 90% of the 2.8 mile hike) but fortunately some nice snowmobilers gave us an easy way up for about 75%.

Still no breeze at the top made for a very comfortable and leisurely transition.

The top of the ski-down was still a total schwack fest...the heavy wet snow from MLK Saturday had bent all the Beech bushes over and cemented them into the snow. We don't mind getting scratched in the face but these formed an impenetrable wall that no amount of momentum could power through.

Once we got a little lower down though, good turns were found:
