If anyone has a pair of 187 Woodsman 116’s they’d like to move along then LMK. Would like to test them against the 184 Wren 114’s I have.
I miss my extra stiff Kartel 116 sometimes. But that was a shit ton of carbon.
For the newer way of core profile altering stiffness...it’s better. Trust me.
You should have been here yesterday!
I'm with you on the 191 vs 189 non asym. I bought a pair last week and skied them over the weekend. Had my 191s out for today. They just seemed smoother and easier to flick around. Plus mobbed the chunky bottom of the hill. If they ever brought them back for a special run, I'd buy another in a heartbeat.
The 189s were still great and I'll give them another shot before releasing back to the collective, but the 191s are cold dead hand skis for me now.
Told Ya!! [emoji6]
I bought TAFKALS’s 191’s and mounted them with Attach demos tonight. I’m going to systematically ruin all my friends by letting them ski them on our next deep day.
Been a while since I have been on a pair of 191’s. Looking forward to that super loose chargy mix.

Heh. I quite admire your ability to justify any ski or just give zero effs about overlap.
I also am glad that such a legendary pair of skis is with such a legendary mag who skis where I ski.
Also pretty sure one MLK pow day several years ago where I was on a 191 goat and LVS was on an 89mm underfoot dynastar offering is what got him interested in a pair of billy goats. Look how that turned out.
You’re welcome.

Zoolander wasn't a documentary?
Coming from a owner of both the 186 non-asym and a 189 asym C&D, and previous owner of 191 non-asym tours; what's the main reason for the difference? Flex or shape? I think the tail rocker line and splay is pretty similar?
Love the 186, haven't been on the C&Ds enough to comment. 191 tours were great, but I didn't tour on them and didn't need them for inbounds.
Sort of regret that sale, I'd rather keep them for sometime in the future. Same as my 191 OG C&Ds....if they somehow find their way back I'd buy them in a heartbeat.
sf - about your old 191 bearclaw tours:
After his first day on them, the guy who bought them from you told me and another friend on 191 / 184 BGs: "NOW I get it... you guys have been cheating this whole time!"
He is not touring on them though, so if he ends up wanting to swap them out for some reg.layup at some point, I'll let you know. (unless I just steal them myself that is...)

Following up on my Woodsman 108 discussion...
I've read that some are having tuning issues that are making them feel hooky. Anyone know if this is specific to a year, 2019/2020 or 2020/2021? I have the 2019/2020 model and wondering if there's anything I can check prior to using them to see if I might have the same problem? Any details on what to do to fix it (aside from detune tips/tails more)?
I appreciate all the help so far.
Stock J116s were a blast to tour with on some new snow in the Wasatch yesterday. Although I’m now glad I didn’t skip leg day too many times this summer....

I followed Iggy's and CallMeAl's most excellent advice. The edge bevel was indeed the issue with my woods116s and woods108s.
The hookieness on my woods116 dissapeared completely. The tails were still a tiny bit too locked in the last time I used them, but have retuned and detuned them again since - re my previous post. I am very confident that they will be soft snow slayers now, yet still be dependable and predictable on hard snow.
I retuned my woods108s too, and they went from feeling to locked in and a chore to ski to feeling great - even if they are still quite a bit of ski, but they are also fairly loose and super solid on groomers.
So I would not sweat it - either detuning or retuning the edges is extremely easy to do if yours are not perfect out of the gate.
