There were different jerseys for the length of ride option. I went for the big one, easy to hang in the blob at Z3 for three hours. I’m 312 into the 500 now.

    Inspiring!

Half of me is bummed I didn’t figure out the deal on this festive 500 everyone was talking about.

Other half (the rational half) is aware it would cripple me.

But keep posting your progress - I’m riding 500km vicariously via your posts! (I did 12km recovery ride yesterday - have a tempo workout to do today #fatzwiftjong)

Good write up for anyone thinking about getting into it. I'll probably have to wait until next year for a smart trainer, but this explained things well:

This Festive 500 is starting to drag me down! It’s a big ask for Xmas week, ski shop guy and whatnot. 355/500, I think I’ve got this.

You can do it! Find some flat C group rides that eat up miles and get it done.

I rode with coco the other day and almost like cheating. Pretty casual and the group goes 40kph.

Find and follow Dee on Zwift companion and then he'll give you an invite.

In the past, I've avoided any sort of indoor riding like the plague, but this year I've got a job and I'm tired of not doing enough to keep biking fitness in the winter with snow/melt/mud/repeat cycles we've been getting in the Denver area the last few years so... I picked up a Wahoo Kickr Snap about a month ago, got a decent deal on CL for a 2017 version. I've been figuring it out since, found that a dedicated trainer tire makes a HUGE difference in accuracy vs. the 38mm wide soft-rubber gravel tire that I had on the bike previously. Connectivity is still wonky, using a 10-year old MacBook pro and an ANT+ dongle, but that's getting sorted out as well. I'll have to admit, the whole smart trainer + app thing is pretty engaging, and sucks a lot less than I thought it would.

I'm currently working through trial periods of all the various apps to figure out what I want to hang my hat on. So far I've tried Rouvy, Golden Cheetah (which doesn't want to run on my old-ass laptop) and now I'm on BKOOL. They all have their pros and cons. But, when I decide to try out Zwift I'd like to join y'all for a ride or two or three. The whole "riding with other people" thing is kinda high on my list of features I think I'll like. So far I've only "ridden" with virtual partners in the other apps, they just don't seem to have the user numbers.

I’ll be watching tonight’s ride from the couch. If you don’t leave the start pen you can ride along without actually riding. Click a name from the rider list on the right side and boom, you are onboard. Seeing everything they see, the full HUD and all the whatnots. I like to rotate through the riders. The camera angles are cool when you do this also. Pretty fun to watch along from the couch on the east coast.

These meetups are set for “allow late joiners”
This means if you log onto Zwift after the event has started you can still join.
If you have a technology mishap and get kicked out, you can rejoin the event.
If the child you’re suppose to be watching falls down the stairs and you need to tended to them, you can come back to your bike, quit the meetup and rejoin.
Whenever you (re)join an event in progress it will join you in the middle of the pack, at pack speed, and give you pedal assist for 10–15 seconds to get your feet beneath you to get your power and cadence up to speed.
I got another request today to invite someone new to the meetups.
Let’s hope we get some new joiners in the new year.
I want to stress that it’s not an intimating place to come join, we will be nicer than we are to each other on TGR!

That was a fun one tonight. I fired off that aero boost a little early. Haha.
That last mile always feels long.

All I got when I crossed the sprint arch was 10 XP points. No Aero, no Draft, no Feather, just some stupid XP points.

Thanks, gr. I'm hoping to find a trainer soon and set it up for some Zwift cross-training. Hope to join everyone soon.

    Nice job!

I always enter the holidays with thoughts of extra time and getting a head start on winter fitness. And once again, I lack the motivation...

Well done buttah! I just gained 5+ lbs w/o as much riding. Went skiing a few times but that’s not burning so many calories.

Did knock out a sub 50min Alp de Zwift on NYE, that one hurts!

I've chased 3 of the 4 new route badges with the new connectors in Watopia. Nice routes with great graphics scenery. Today was the Serpentine 8 route in the jungle. A nice route

Looking for recommendations for the BEST VALUE smart trainer to use for this purpose. It will be shared with my wife so ease of swapping bikes is a priority. Don’t want to shell out for the very top end, but also don’t want something that I’ll want to replace next year. Wahoo and Tacx seem to be the top two manufacturers. Thanks

You can add Elite to the list as well. I'm on their Dureto.

I'm partial to spending the money required to go wheel off trainers. As long as both of you are on the same speed rear cassette, it is a fairly easy swap (ex: both on 11speed)

If anyone is upgrading to a new trainer please let me know when you unload your old one! Feel like I am a fraud running a trainer with no auto resistance and it's peak Zwift season.

Fair price for a used Wahoo Kickr? Dude on CL has a full setup and I am trying to get him to unload just the trainer.
