Yeah wouldn’t go lower than $500 for that. You’d be better off buying a new Kickr Core for $800 in that case.

I have an Elite Direto which is relatively equivalent I think and it’s been great. If I hadn’t gotten a smoking deal on it when Performance was closing stores, I woulda bought a Kickr Core instead.

Can’t make it tonight, so I went big this morning. The Mega Pretzel, 67 miles with a fair bit of climbing. It was actually fun.
    Merry Christmas

Wow just checked out that route. Nice work!

You earned a second helping of Christmas dinner with that one.

Thanks man! I ate a 20 mg gummi after a hot shower, I’m melting into the couch watching Home Alone, followed by Bad Santa.

We only did 2 good paced laps and I went to wait for Santa Clause and drink some scotch.

I'll do an invite for Tuesday Dec 29th at our normal 6pm (MST), but I don't think I'll make a New Years Ever Thursday Dec 31 4pm (MST), unless a bunch of you want the ride and say you'll be there.
Let's hope after the holidays we can get a few more to join the rides. I've been super happy with a consistent 10 guys.

I’ll be back in for Tuesdays and maybe the occasional Thursday once January rolls around.

    Really appreciate you organizing these!

I’m slowly getting my pain cave, legs, and butt into shape. I play hockey most Tuesday nights but should be able to join in on some TGR group rides in the new year.

Thanks for organizing Dee! Was good to get some pre-xmas- eve yayas out, get the legs spinning a little. And no bluetooth drops! Hopefully I've got that solved.

Out next week, but see you again the week after that.

Yeah, sorry, I thought I was gonna be on time, but got out of the shop late, then there was a Covid line at the liquor store. Felt like goddamn Utah for a minute.
ThenI forgot to plug my laptop in and the battery died after being at work unplugged all day.
So after that shitshow and not even a full lap, I figured I’d check out France, then saw the turn for Mt Ventoux and lacking anything else to do checked that one off. Oof.
Now time for beer and tacos...then an Old Fashioned.

I’ll do Thurs NYE ride if others will. I was fully planning on riding last night but riding at 6pm got kiboshed by the family (“So - we’re all eating dinner on Xmas Eve, and you want to go ride in the basement?!”)

Joined the Rapha 500, 172km down in 2 days. Rode the Tire-Bouchon in France, another badge off the list. That’s a great route, I’m digging the French roads.

Decided half-heartedly to tackle Ventoux yesterday. Then decided half way up that it was a dumb plan. By the time I got to the top it was clear that a lobotomy would have made the whole thing better.

Haha. This is pretty much exactly what happened to me the other night.

I decided my festive 500 route yesterday was going to be four horseman. I did not particularly enjoy alpe du zwift. Smarter way to do this would be just ride with the C pace partner but where's the fun in that.

I did four horsemen a few weeks back for the first time. I was ready for the alp, but when it was done I just figured I’d cruise to the finish. Only to nearly break on the little climb out of the jungle at the end. I was just so done at that point

    The Jungle always hurts.
Knocking off more K for the Festive 500. Did the new Beach Island loop,7.6 miles, zone 2 and averaged close to 20 mph for 3 laps. It’s a good loop for easygoing miles

So I’ve decided if I win my office football pool ( it’s down to me and another guy) I’ll use my winnings for a smart trainer. I’d really like a wheel off but don’t think I can justify the price. For wheel on are they all basically the same? I notice some handle more watt output and such but is there actually much difference? I’m usually a buy once, cry once kind of person and I like nice stuff so just wondering what advice you guys have

I’ve had fluid trainers, mag trainers, a spin bike, used rollers, I’ve lost count of how many different trainer options. When I finally gave in to my brother pestering me to try a kickr it took me about 3 minutes to justify buying one.

9 months later buying the Kickr Core seems like pretty much the best decision I’ve made this year. I would be so much less happy with anything that keeps the wheel on.

    Maybe that helps.

Doesn’t..... haha. It points me somewhat in the area I thought this would go. As we all know this stuff is such a hot commodity now with covid so finding deals is next to impossible. I’ll keep hunting around and see what I can find.

I order a Wahoo Kickr from my shop 11 weeks (?) ago, still nothing. They ordered 4 at the same time and only one, maybe 2 have shipped since then. I'm not paying full price so I was 3rd in line, and the fourth was for the showroom floor.
Crazy how high demand these are. It's for my wife who is using an old wheel on trainer.
With the wheel on trainer, Zwift suggests we set the resistance dial to 3, but the cable snapped years ago and i had to jerry rig it by using a shift cable and crimp a cable stop on it to fit in the resistance dial housing. wither pedaling at at a strong 70% level she is at 160 watts, if i turn the dial one notch harder she drops to 100 watts, and if I turn easier one notch she jumps up over 200 watts. This is one notch of 10!

Maybe I'll put my bike on the wheel-on trainer one night for the Tues/Thurs TGR ride, and play wolf in sheep's clothing at the back of the pack with the resistance dial all the way turned down, and then throw out 1000 watts for last climb and sprint finish. HA!

Yah the demand is absolutely insane. I like nice things and I always hunt for a bargain but this will be tough. A few on the used market but not many and asking high prices ( and probably getting them) so we will see. Let’s just hope I win my pool first!

Knocked off another big chunk of the Festive 500 today. Over a 100km in the BMTR Fundo. Great loop, the new Ocean Cliffside lap. Like a 1,000 people at the start this morning at 8:10. There were different jerseys for the length of ride option. I went for the big one, easy to hang in the blob at Z3 for three hours. I’m 312 into the 500 now.
