Honestly, we have no idea what the resort’s limits are. Possible there is no real limit so people don’t have to worry about not getting in. Just a smoke screen to make y’all feel safe and protect them from liability when the shit hits the fan in the first storm day.

Ok, well, if you allow day of cancellation then I am fine with charging people for no-shows (or some other penalty). But you have to allow no-penalty day-of cancellation.

Of course this only matters if the resorts are actually limiting. Just because they require reservations does not prove they have a cap. Don’t really trust Vail to be honest. Not sure about these ikon resorts.

So I made some Aspen Snowmass Reservations but then Im left scratching my head how this works to control numbers at any mountain because they arent mountain specific. So snowmass gets more snow and every IKON reservations holder goes there on the same day??

Steamboat took away the Gondola square cam, would be poor PR to see just how long the lines will be. It wasn't working out for them last year when there was no covid, the lines still went out the the bus transit station on most pow mornings and certainly on weekends, esp after they stopped letting people wait inside the gondy building (which was a stupid move to begin with).

They also put a disclaimer on their webpage that cue times may be enacted on certain days. This will go over like a fart in church.

sure, I get the point of the gondola. But Steamboat's gondola is the primary way to get on the hill (there are other ways but it really is the main/only one). If they offered another base area high speed option to get somewhere decent on the mountain, it would provide a release valve for when the gondola is jammed (or god forbid down).

This is true but the new gondola is pretty sweet. Way higher capacity now. Covid will make it more of a pain but even when the line is huge it moves pretty fast now especially if use the singles line. Covid who knows everything is going to be slower if we even have a season

You can do the 2 lift thing, but the lines at the second lift suck.

My local hill has apparently caved in to fear d' Covid, and is now requiring reservations. The Ikon reservation process is relatively painless (shockingly), but I noticed if any member of the family reserves a day, it lowers the available reservation days for my account. For example if my wife wants to take the kids up on a Tuesday, and I want a solo day on Wednesday, that counts for 2 of our 10 reservations days, instead of 1 for each of us.

I'm wondering if this is an Ikon-wide policy or a local hill issue?

we just booked some using our separate logins and this didn't happen.
