    Thank you.

He was the third consecutive dog in a row for me, so 26 years of not ever being without one. I've got some biking goals to attain, and I think after that I'll be ready again.

Ooof Jax, when your ready, I know you will find your new best friend. Peace and take care.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

Friday was the toughest day of my life so far. Our pup of 12 years moved to the other side. She died peacefully in my arms. There have been a lot of tears and I know it will never go away but every day is a little better. Ill miss her until the day I die. RIP Koko, you were the best dog ever.

Put a post on the doggy thread but putting a pic here too:

After a few years having put our 14 yo visla down we just welcomed Luna into the fold. She’s a Bernese about 8 weeks old.

It wasn’t easy and I will say their life expectancies around 8 yrs. had me a little concerned. A confluence of events and having the time while working from home really helped our decision.

I will say, as a life long lovers of dogs she is a real morality boost around the house and family right now. It’s a tough decision but will definitely be worth it when you’re ready again. Good luck.

I have found that jumping back in the saddle with a new pup, although frustrating at first, is a great way to squelch the sting a little.

Sorry to all those that have recently lost puppers.
In order to properly convert this thread to a polyasshat thread to more fully enrage the liberal left frequenting here...... (insert latest democratic blunder of your choice).

    itz just a dog
    but them motherfuckers have teeth
and breaking up dogfights between belligerent pitbulls and 100 lbs ridgebacks carries a helluva risk.
Especially when the pit is your new foster and he's 11 yo, almost blind with cataracts and has been attacking your ridge, or your cat, or your other dogs any chance it can get. After breaking up too many dogfights over the last week, and having all engineering controls to keep angry pitbull away from our other pooches until the goddamned foster agency can find a better equipped foster thwarted and overwhelmed it was bound to happen.

    Dogbites suck.

Beating the fuck out of a pitbull with your left hand while he is locked onto your righthand until he lets go really sucks.

Realizing what just happened is a death sentence for that angry pit, well that sucks too just not sure where to put it on the scale of suck.

I wish Daeowulff had been just another stray from a high kill shelter in NM that needed some guidance to be a good boy before he headed off to a forever home. He liked me and noone else in my house. He wanted to be a good boy. Now Im left with a hole in my hand and a hole in my fucking heart.

Stepping away from fostering for a while to process all this fucking shit...

Not our dog--the next door neighbors' in Sacramento. They moved in about 2 years ago with a Havanese named Theo. Our cockapoo Cleo and Theo became best buddies. We haven't been in Sacramento in months. We came to Sac yesterday to take care of some business to find that Theo had been hit by a car and killed. Our ditzy 70 something neighbor walked him off a leash and he was always darting across the street, wandering into neighbors' yards and houses, and generally living the life of a country dog, in the city. They were walking along a busy residential street and Theo darted into traffic and was run over. Apparently he wasn't killed outright but was euthanized at the vet's office--hind leg and abdominal injuries. I can't get the picture out of my head. Cleo spent all yesterday looking for him.

The owners just flew to Ohio to pick up another Havanese. I hope they are more careful.

Pearl Bean died this morning after one last walk to the prairie we spent so much time in. I carried her back to the house and she died on the couch next to me 20 minutes later. She was only 2 1/2. Damn, I hate this.

Vibes. No other words but an observation:

Playing with my young pup (sometimes a complete asshole!) a few years after we had to put our last dog down. That was a really painful time and just had to work through the grievance and learn to appreciate and recount all the fun that dog (Killian) brought to our lives.

The dog to human lifecycle numbers really make the relationship stronger and yet more painful.
