Echo had an ultrasound today. The vet doing the imaging thinks he has transitional cell carcinoma. It is a malignant cancer apparently. We will talk to our regular vet on Monday about if/what we can do. It doesn’t seem to be in a significant advanced stage, best I can read in the imaging report. But having just done some googling, I’m pretty sad about the potential outcomes. I’m holding a little hope that the vet has some perspective that may mitigate some of the current sense of hopelessness. Outcomes seem to be listed in days and almost all are under a year.
Echo is 11, which seems a bit early, but isn’t a spring chicken for sure.

Hey AC, I'm really sorry to hear about Echo. If surgery is a possibility, the vets at OREV (https://oregonexpertvets.com/) did a great job on our pooch, Chance. Chance had an anal gland tumor removed (I know, it was gross) in 2018 and made a full recovery.

Norseman, did that start out as just a recurring limp? My Maya has this limp that comes and goes. Last week was bad. Vet did x-rays looking for arthritis and said nothing was visible.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

Yeah it was a limp that was intermittent at first, but within a couple weeks it was constant and she wouldn't put any weight on it at all. Bad pain, crying in the night, etc. Scans revealed bone cancer up high in the shoulder but it hadn't spread, so the amputation was deemed the best course. Cut that shit off and move on!

Dogs are amazing in their ability to adapt, unlike humans. Go Pepper!

Missing my boy Ullr something fierce right now. It will be 2 years next month since he's been gone. I never did a tribute for him here as I was offline for awhile. It'd sure be nice to have him around during this pandemic. I thought of adopting again, but, I'm just not ready. I still shed tears for him almost every day. He helped me through some very, very rough times.

Jax, don't let a few tears get in the way of finding your next best friend. I couldn't talk about Kava for years without getting all choked up, but thank Dog I had Shadow there to help me with my grief. Take care.
