Was turned away by hour plus waits a couple times so hit the early bird at Slackwater Pizza in Sandy today. I really dig their Ogden location and Sandy was just goddamned fantastic minus river frontage. Dont not get the Nachos!

    7 page beer menu....
And waitresses well versed in hoppy waters
    In Sandy Utah. WTF!

Next thing you know String Cheese Incident will be playing at the Sandy Amphitheatre and Rebelution will do a show on the promenade across from the cop shop.

This city has really gone down the tubes.

damn that looks legit! mag meetup sometime? I rarely end up south of 900 unless I’m skiing or buying skis so I could probably use the change of scenery

You went with the Green Goddess pizza eh? I don't know how the Sandy location compares, but Slackwater Ogden has the best pizza crust around here. The beer menu goes without saying.

Let's do it! Used to hit up the Ogden one when my cousin lived up there. The Sandy one is right in my neck of the woods but I still haven't been for some reason.

This is impressive. Not even 2100s. As a Sugarhouser, my non-sports boundary was generally 3300s.

sounds like shit might start opening up may 1 (or even sooner) per the govt today.

what is the FIRST place you want to hit?

weirdly, desert edge right now for me. maybe red rock in town. I haven't checked if they even closed but I could really go for pretty bird too.

I've been eating great at home because my wife is an awesome cook and has been bored, but....I could go for a big pub burger and fries.

We've been doing take out 1-2 times a week, but I'm really looking forward to sitting my ass at a bar with some greasy food and a few beers. Maybe I'll finally make it to the (not so) new Slackwater down here.

Slackwater does carryout. We had them a couple weeks ago. I wonder if they do beer carryouts?

In town. Tosh’s Ramen tonight. Very much enjoyed it. Easy takeout too.

Any suggestions for a lunch and/or dinner spot tomorrow? Im near the U area but I know the kids are all moving in so some places might be swamped...

^ thanks, I live right by the U, so I know most of those places. porcupine is ok (I like it) but nothing to write home about... indochine is not my thing. the italian place is new. but you can’t beat pretty bird imo. depending on how much you can / want to travel there are more options, I really like red rock in town for dinner. and finca just moved to 15th/15th and they used to be solid, and the space they’re in (used to be trestle tavern) is dope if you sit outside. tosh’s is the jam for ramen... definitely my favorite,
I’m kinda jealous, haven’t been there in a while

as for the tire, I’ll probably pop the valve core out before giving up all hope... get my moneys worth of that valve core remover I bought haha

+100 for pretty bird, can't recommend that strongly enough.

tho i disagree on ramen, i think kobe is where it's at (for sushi too! cheaper than takashi and 90% as good)

Edit - if you're in town for one night (and staying downtown or near the U) - Tosh's is great.

Man, skip porcupine. I live right by the u, and it's a gorgeous building, could be so great, but we've gotten moldy food, most of the dishes we have tried are bland. Our 8 year old likes it, but we told him no more porcupine.
I like moochies for cheese steaks, chicken parm. Pretty bird is good, indochine is good. That new Italian place is pretty good, can't remember what it's called. Pizza no is real good. Mazza by 15th and 15th is good.

    sent from Utah.

Breakfast at Porcupine is acceptable, but we never go there otherwise. Chanon Thai on 9th S/3rd E is the best Thai I've had in the valley.

Went to Pretty Bird right when they opened at 3. Really good. But we were starving - hunger is the best sauce and all that. Still, quite good.

Ideas for a casual dinner take out? Doesn’t need to be fancy...

one more noodle house - szechuan style noodle bar with amazing bone broth
oh mai - banh mi sandwiches
    spitz - mediterranean street food
    curry pizza - 'nuff said
