Maybe--like how macho they want to appear, how much they think they have to prove. Most doctors have "weak" handshakes because they shake hands with a lot of old, fragile people.
My fear is that after Trump declares the country open and the governors keep things shut a lot of Trumpers will open their businesses, get together in tightly packed groups, etc. in defiance of the governors and the governors will be forced to start arresting people or to back down. Things could get very political and very ugly. Good to see that there are Republican governors who aren't afraid to stand up to Trump.

When the Rat Flu was still a bit of an abstract I was thinking how China would handle an epidemic. They are a brutal regime and they would do what it takes to arrest the spread. That is what they tried and it seemed to work. Now they are exploring the move to normalcy and it doesn't sound like it is going that great.
Juxtapose that with the land of the free and the home of the brave. Exactly what I expected is starting to happen although I am impressed that people have had as much patience as they have had. We will be our own worst enemies and demand that life return to normal and a lot of people will die. And it will be explained that to have stayed the course would have been even more destructive and people starving is worse than people dying due to respiratory failure even those no one was actually starving other than the people who were already starving before any of us heard of Rat flu.
Meanwhile this like everything else with become a team sport.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

Who's sucking what? Orangeman is upset because WHO is among many organizations sounding warnings for the last 4 months that orange man was too dumb to listen to. The Russian troll media deceives you.
Taiwan restricted travel from China in December
China locked downa very large city in January
Japan and Korea both reported imported cases in January
WHO began issuing daily situation reports in January
Certainly many US government agencies noticed these red lights flashing and much more. I'm certain the government has more than a few competent epidemiologists who knew exactly what was happening. Maybe it's the US Government that's so fucking corrupt, especially at the top.
Lots of that in the neighbourhood, but then the local waste transfer station started putting an attendant at the gate to 'request' that only bagged household garbage, and pre-sorted household recycling be taken in. No scrap metal, used oils and paints, no brush and organic yardwaste. Only until this COVID thing passes...
Kinda fucked and I wish the local town, the regional district, and prov wildfire service sit down together and discuss. Everyone at the very least is cleaning their yards after a long winter, the Environment ministry has put in an order curtailing and yardwaste burning (reduce smoke until the forest ministry can issue the same order after Apr 15 - fire season). So what are people doing with the waste? Burning it in defiance of the smoke order, or dumping it off some backroad. And of course there is a big push to reduce fuel loads and firesmart the community; grassfire season is already in swing just south of us towards the desert. More than just COVID to worry about as the season progresses.
All that stuff usually gets sold via garage sales around here. Of course that isn't happening either. But the old boomers and old towne folk won't likely migrate to the online garage sale, so they are stressing every Saturday morning, with the garage door open and their precious junk collectibles gazing out longingly at the street, dreaming of freedom.
A lot of people are falling for the same idiocy KenJong has repeated. Trump and Faux will just keep trying different messages until something stick with the base. They're brainwashed...no joke. Ken will be defending the idiocy shortly, or some other Trump supporter...not to go all political, but Ken's started it with that stupid shit.
Seriously? You do know he didn’t heed any expert advice when there was a big HIV crisis in Indiana while he was governor. When the people elect a political party to run government that doesn’t actually believe in government you get a shitty government.

JFC.President Donald Trump's name will appear on checks sent to millions of Americans to combat the economic effects of the coronavirus in a last-minute Treasury Department order, a senior administration official confirmed to CNN on Tuesday.
Per Washington Post, first time a president’s name appears on an IRS disbursement. Treasury officials claim that adding the name won't delay the funds but the code must be changed to include the president’s name, and the system must be tested. “Any last minute request like this will create a downstream snarl that will result in a delay,” said Chad Hooper, a quality-control manager who serves as national president of the IRS’s Professional Managers Association.
A big plant in Iowa joins the Covid war on bacon: 186 positive tests at the pork plant, bringing Louisa Co. IA's case rate to 11th place of all counties nationwide, ahead of NYC.
Defunding WHO is just another tRump marketing play. Eventually WHO will release a report explaining why the USA has 5% of the worlds population and 30% of the Covid cases. When they do, Trump will say the report is retaliation for the loss of funding.
