So, anyway, as of March 30 (NYT data saved to spreadsheet on that day), SD was ranked 46 out of 51 in case rate per population. A half-month later, they're ranked #18, with almost double California's case rate.

Apparently, a big source of the problem was a huge pork plant. Working conditions are generally unhealthy and bad there because, you know, FUCK YOU WORKERS!!! is the rockin' bootstrapin' ethic that supposedly Creates Jobs. Who could have guessed that unhealthy working conditions would lead to a disease outbreak, coinciding with a global pandemic?!?

Anyway, good luck guys. Maybe what needs to happen is a tax cut for the meat plant owners.
The real tragedy here, besides the 300 workers getting sick but who cares most of them were are foreign born, is that this will significantly impact the availability of bacon.

    Very location dependent.

GOP in many states wants to reopen without worker protections in place. Smart idea after the outbreaks in these meat plants.

Although appears as mostly a blame shifting diversionary tactic, it’s chump change in the scheme of things. That would be a nice example of a bill the CCP could pick up if they wanted to take responsibility.

Some really rich tech super billionaire should step up tommorow with a big check, maybe 500 million, and publicly give it to the WHO, at the same time challenging other Silicon Valley Titans to match him.

Hint hint Bezos. Up your game.

Something about NYC popping another 3700 cases in there because before they were considered possible Covid-19 related? I didn't really read the whole article, but that contributed to a large bump.

Disagree. One feature of third world countries is reliance on that kind of largesse. I much prefer a relatively uncorrupt gummint like Switzerland or Singapore has that is able to make spending prioritizations in a transparent manner.

Why play into the orange cheetolini’s game of “well if you like XXX so much, write a check to support it”? I’m not ready to abandon our norms yet.

those 3700 are in addition to the 2349 reported today. I believe the new cases are ones from the past few weeks where tests were not done but where cause of death had been declared as covid.

@ frorider I don’t know much about the WHO, even though trump clearly fucked up after they told him, isn’t being a watchdog part of what they are supposed to do? If the countries all funded their own, would lose some of that? Question not a stamtent.

Exactly. This is trump trying to shift blame but it’s literally going to kill people. WHO does a lot of good work and is a great resource for scientists around the world to communicate through. Think I read we’re like 20 percent of their funding. He’s such a piece of shit it’s really beyond comprehension. I’ll be interested to see how the rest of the world responds. Hold back vaccine info from the USA?

Christ Trump is totally losing it. Did anyone catch his presser today? Worse than yesterday. He's gone round the bend.

BBC World News tonight is exposing Trump's lies re: his powers.

They (Trump's supporters) are terrified and clinging to the captain of the Titanic praying he can save them.

He’s approaching the point where I wonder if those around him are starting to truly consider the 25th amendment. If there is a god, Trump will get the virus and die. Not holding out hope.

The reporters asking question are not backing down as much.
