Because some people like skiing and are willing to wait for a ride out of the base area. Everything else was on wind hold and they couldn't get to a different ski area.

Jesus -- sometimes I think people on this forum like bitching about skiing more than skiing.
    Vail is flat though...

Having 6 broken made quite the line... and everyone powder clausing it and all the kids off from school... and a lot of Denver drove up in time to beat the 7am closure because everyone knew. I heard "and then I slept in my car" about a zilion times today.

But apart from the 30 minute Gondola One line I never really stood in long lines. But the slopes did feel crowded because there is so much lift capacity and there was not a lot of room to spread out with most of the mountain closed.

It was really windy down low. There was a lot of wind fucked snow.

And then most of these fucktards get there, realize it's too windy and snow sucks, make three runs and get tired. Split, kooks!

Figured we would try to blitz 70 through Central City from Boulder. Foiled by Gilpin County sheriff.

    OFFICIAL I70 BITCH THREAD....

Coming down I70EB right now with a plow escort. So aerie with no WB traffic anywhere.

No plows on the other side either. Doesn’t look like they’re even trying to get it open tonight.

isn't the only way to avoid 70 in its entirety Virginia Canyon? Or were you just trying to bypass a closure point by doing the Central City Pkwy?

Roads above CC we’re pretty rough. 8-12” of new on pavement. Fun to drive but sketchy in the dark where you don’t know where you’re going. Back in Boulder. Fun 3.5 hour tour.

Yes, there's Virgina Canyon (aka oh my god road), or are you talking about something else?

My failed plan assumed 70W would open at some point before sunset and coming from Central City Parkway, we’d avoid any bottleneck at Morrison. This was before 6 and Clear Creek Canyon reopened, and 70 remained closed. Oh well. Peak to Peak was pretty at least.

The most quotes, over 10, that I heard today all shared the same word:

    "Dense".

    Do the math. Or Engrish.
