Dear ladies I passed in the hall this morning as you walked the other way,
If I am still smelling your perfume some 50 paces after I passed you, you might want to consider using a little less of the stuff.
Signed,
Annoyed

We've been over this one before, but yesterday someone honked at me because they were merging onto the freeway and I was in the right lane driving at a constant speed. Some people just don't get it. All I could do was laugh.
people who merge onto the 55mph freeway going 40
Was driving along the freeway just the other day, and there was a car STOPPED about 3/4 of the way down the entrance/merge lane. NO FUCKING WAY they were ever going to be able to get up to speed from where they were to merge safely.
Hell - for all I know, they're still there waiting for an opening.![]()
Nope. They’re inept.
I used to at least try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I don’t anymore. Driving is so fucking easy and yet people can’t do it.

cars have never been better, yet drivers have never been worse.
^^^You may be onto something there. Cheap POS cars go to 60 in 7 seconds, stop on a dime, etc. Maybe it was just easier when the cars were all going 50 tops mph, and got there at relatively the same pace because it evened the playing field.
Not to mention that person on the ramp was probably staring at their phone directions/Waze realizing they should’ve been on the frontage road.

It actually isn't. I've got experience with *two* permitted teenage drivers in the last two years, and *apparently* it is WAY more difficult than it seems.
Which is the reason for the inevitability of the robots. If, for nothing else, the consistency in behavior they will bring. I, for one, welcome it.
If cars came equipped with a pointy steel spike in the center of the steering wheel, drivers would get a whole lot better real fast. Or there'd simply be fewer of them. win/win.
Wow Sammy Davis was 64 when he died, I thought he was like 80 or something
There were no Baby on Board window decals back then as I recall. The driver took total responsibility to not hit other cars. Called the idea "Defensive Driving" Weird idea huh?
What pisses me off is people in the right lane on cruise with an unobstructed view of me entering the highway and they don't have the skills to see that they need to add or subtract a couple mph to let me on. A lot of people can drive a car but operating a motor vehicle safely seems a lost skill. Fuck those guys. I got insurance.
A few people feel the rain. Most people just get wet.
Uhh, I think you have that backwards. You do realize that vehicles already on the highway have the right-of-way and merging vehicles are the ones required to adjust their speed, right? Pretty universal rule across the country. Despite whatever you think may or may not be polite, the responsibility is on YOU (the guy trying to get on the highway) to add or subtract a couple mph to merge safely. Thems the rules. It's not rocket science.
^^^Fuck that. Do it right. Get that POS up to speed and merge.

That may be, and nothing wrong with being polite (unless it screws with the traffic behind you), but there still shouldn't be the expectation that people get out of your way so you can merge. It ain't the olden days of land yachts that had 0-60 times of "eventually," so a proper merge is easier than ever. Now if traffic's bumper to bumper and there's no room for said merger, then yeah, go ahead and make a little room for the poor guy to get on the freeway.
Apparently there is no law in the CA motor vehicle code specifically addressing merging onto the freeway, only entering or crossing a highway from "public or private property". According to the CHP the freeway on ramp is considered part of the freeway and is considered the same way as when two lanes merge into one--as a zipper merge, and the car behind should allow the car in front to merge. So if someone is entering the freeway far enough in front of you that you can't pass them before the ramp and the through lane merge, slow down to let them in. Or better yet--if the left lane is open, change into that lane. Other states may be different but the CA rule seems like common sense to me. (Locals hint--when EB on I80 passing the Donner lake interchange on ramp and then the 89 on ramp stay in the left lane if you can. The first ramp is very short and the second is a fairly steep uphill with cars on the ramp hidden from view until they are almost on the freeway--so in both cases cars entering the freeway will be unable to reach freeway speed before entering the through lane.)
