Got my physical pass in the mail yesterday. Came in a big yellow folder with a lanyard, a iron on patch, a bunch of stickers, and a poster map to "track" all the IKON destinations. EPIC never did any of that, those cheapskates.
Just bought mine- of course with the higher price tag. i held out for so long because it seemed like too good of a deal. for years i never bought a ski pass because i didn't want to be limited to one place. i've got different circles of ski buddies that all seem to be at different resorts. If i want to ski with my extended family- brighton. if i wanted to take my 4 year old skiing with his classmates- solitude. if i wanted to ski for myself- alta or snowbird or solitude. hardcore ski buddies- alta/snowbird not to mention the backcountry. in the end, i still spent around $700-$900 a year on day passes. it looks like this way around i'll be even steven just with the amount i'll ski at snowbird and brighton...
I'm wondering what the drawbacks are other than blackout dates. Seems like the ski industry is finally making it easy for skiers to enjoy the mountains- at least here in the Wasatch. it makes me very suspicious...
Also- does anyone know how this pass works- just hop on like a regular season pass, or do you still need to visit a ticket window?
I heard from someone who is a higher up at Alterra that all Ikon passholders will need to get a paper ticket from the pass office each day that they ski at any of their resorts. Something about them not having the infrastructure in place to track skier visits any other way.
My only regret. is not getting an A-basin pass this year. I don't know if I'll hold strong through the entire Winter without getting one.
Looking forward to an occasional hookup with Winter Park mags as well. It's been 20 years since I skied there.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...iscariot
Haha, suckas
Challenge:
Ikon passholder who accumulate the fattest stack of paper tickets (worn on the body on April 20) wins a big red dildo of wyeaster's choosing.
I have an old friend with a condo I'll crash with a couple weekends, another friend on patrol who we can cut some lines with, and it only costs $40 more than a pass for just Abasin, where I prefer to ski.
Without the social connection I'd save the 40 bucks. Keystone's terrain is remarkably similar to Killington's. So are the snow totals. It really comes down to whether you prefer Jersey babes, or Texan mom's.
Actually, Keystone seems to clear out as soon it's cold or snowing, whereas Killington tends to have enough good and/or committed skiers to track things out pretty quickly. Advantage Keystone.
It depends where. You can definitely roll up to Squaw / Alpine / Mammoth with your Ikon pass and it should just work. It's a complete overhaul of their basic pass system so it's all integrated. I imagine some of the others will be the same, others not. The distinction would likely be the resorts they actually own vs. the resorts they are in contract with for this deal. So Aspen should work directly as well, you'd think.

I’m looking forward to trying Eldora again for some easier family weekends. I can handle I-70 if the family is staying home but getting the kids out the door early enough to beat traffic takes the fun out of the day before it even starts.
Already have our Big Sky trip booked over spring break, will finalize Jackson this weekend and am stoked to get my oldest daughter out to Alta this year. A friend also just moved to Carbondale so I’ll finally get some days at Aspen with free lodging. This is gonna be a fun year, winter is just too damn short.
Touche. I'm looking forward to not dragging along the shit show that is my family trying to go skiing at a mega resort up I-70, traffic, shuttle buses, bathroom breaks, forgetting shit in the car and having to go back.......I'm looking forward to an easier day on the mountain, unfortunately that's Eldora.
So where is it you actually enjoy skiing, Lemmy?
