Ugh, not good news. He’s coming home but they think he’s had this disease for quite a while and it is likely in his bone marrow and liver. Vet said some make it, some don’t. He will stay on antibiotics and we bring him in with any complications. Not what we were hoping for.

Fucking vibes man. That is heartbreaking.

We spoiled our pup last night on his pretend 3rd birthday (no idea since he was a rescue): a bit of steak, and a marrow bone from the local butcher. I can't imagine.

Dang Neufox, I am so sorry...
Hang in there, we are hoping for the best for Rollie.

Harry, I am sorry to hear about Daisy's stroke, it's clear has good humans and is well loved.

This thread is tough, my heart goes out to all who have posted in the recent past that I may have missed.

Rollie seems to be doing better energy wise. However yesterday his red blood cell count was 18 compared to 20 when he was discharged. Going back today for another test, Doc said if red cells drop much more he will need to be readmitted and maybe a blood tran$fu$ion. Hoping his increased energy levels mean he is doing better.

Good news is his appetite has increased again. He must have eaten 1lb of ground turkey and 1/2 lb of prepared rice yesterday. We are feeding him frequently in small quantities.

Harry, I hope Daisy keeps improving.

RIP Rollie. He was such a good dog for just a puppy. We did the transfusion Sunday and today he had crashed even harder. They put him on prednisone too because they thought there was some immunodeficiency component. Pup didn’t want to eat last night or today. He just wasn’t getting any better. Only options were to do another transfusion, and try to refine the diagnosis. But the vet said she put him at less than a 10% chance of making it. I don’t think he was in much pain until yesterday and today. Click image for larger version.

RIP Rollie the Pup and AdironDog.

What wonderful bonds we grow with these critters... that we shed tears upon office keyboards for those we have not met.

Thanks everyone. I’d lost dogs before but never a puppy. It sucks in so many ways.

    It's just a dog.

Watch out leaving your older dogs at kennels. My brother went on vaca and got a call that his 10 yr old golden had a “heart attack”. I guess he paid for the “extra” bullying.

    I’m pissed.

I can only imagine it is almost as bad as losing a child. My sincere condolences to you and your families
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

So sorry to hear this, bud. A long time ago we lost our two year old yellow lab to aneurysm and it was the hardest thing I’d ever gone through. They’re so innocent at that age and just want to have fun, but they have no idea what’s happening. You guys did everything in your power to help Rollie make it, but it just wasn’t meant to be for some reason. Just know that he felt the love and care you gave him for the time he was with you.

I type with confidence, that it's difficult for all of us to visit this thread.

I come here for those who are strong enough to share their tribulations and loss.

I also come to freshen the love for my spirited non-judgmental fur companions that are patiently waiting for me at our next destination.

I was only 4 when Dad brought "Frisky" home. So small, I can remember him hanging out in my father's shoe. He started to bleed after just a few days and there was nothing that could be done.

They may have slipped The surly bonds of earth, but they leave an indelible imprint. Happy trails to Rollie and Adirondog.

Sorry to hear about Rollie and AdironDog. Tough stuff to lose furbags as they somehow manage to wrap around your heart.
In order to properly convert this thread to a polyasshat thread to more fully enrage the liberal left frequenting here...... (insert latest democratic blunder of your choice).
