Cush core seems interesting, but considering how few problems I've had with exo 3C sidewalls and tubeless, I don't really see the need. More for lift served downhill than trail bikes? (I guess that's a relative question) Not knocking it, just curious.

Is the setup for those things as annoying as I've heard or are people exaggerating like they do with dropper post maintenance?

    Stan’s + pinhole = FML
Repeated with Orange Seal: same result.
    Patch on inside now.

Well. I haven’t had the issue with my Maxxis trying to come on me yet, so I’ll probably stick with what works. Post tire bukakke I’m sure I’ll reconsider. ;-)

First couple rides on the 29x2.5" aggressor and generally remembering that any maxxis tire in 2.5" finally feels like a mtb tire instead of the cross bike tire I feel like the 2.3" ones always seem to look like. Finally a wide enough tread and solid cornering blocks. Me likey

My tires may have felt slow because of a spoke coming loose and breaking. Guess we'll see when it stops raining.

Interesting, I find that the 2.30's in any of the aggressive treads and good compounds are borderline overkill for most trail riding. They 2.5's are good for really rugged riding.

I ran a 2.5 DHF and 2.3 aggressor at the end of last season. Kind of wondering if the 2.5 aggressor is overkill, but need to start looking for replacements now.

Anyone try pepi’s Tire noodle yet? Interesting to see a comparison to Huck Norris.

No major weight penalty (30g) on the 27.5x2.5 Aggressor vs. the 2.3, it probably still rolls well, so I'd say it can't hurt if you're on the wider rims for it and prefer the extra volume. If it's 29er, the 2.5 Aggressor is almost 1000g, which is a bit excessive for a rear tire. Be sure you're running the 3C maxxterra DHF with the Aggressor.

I really like the 2.3 3C DHF with the 2.3 Aggressor for normal trail riding, but might try the 2.5 DHF 3C with it. Though I'm more likely to run the 2.5 DHF 3C with a 2.4 DHR2 DC for rugged trail riding, and take the rolling resistance hit.

27.5 on 30i. Been running 3c exo with no issues. Ride lots of rocks, so tires don't last. Why maxxterra...higher rolling resistance?

The 3c maxxterra's have MUCH more grip than the DC tires, but a bit more rolling resistance. 3C front with DC rear is usually a great combo, assuming the treads and size are comparable.

Interesting reading Stucky's comments about the DHF/SS combo. That's what I rode all year last year in similar conditions (although I typically think of Missoula as a but more dusty than the Flathead valley - may be off on that one). It makes me want to give the butchers a go next time I swap tires.

I also swapped from a 2.3 exo 3c maxterra to a 2.5 eco DC and haven't noticed any difference. Most of my riding is dry, so maybe there would be some wet weather difference noticed if I rode them back to back.

Glad my input was helpful to you. Bike is definitely faster with the spoke fixed, lol.

New England tire question--currently running a 2.5 DHF and 2.4 Bontrager XR4 in the rear. I like the xr4 but feel like the DHF is overkill and don't like the transitions in corners--feels like it folds a bit under me.

Running a second gen ripley LS, I don't do any lift serve riding, generally stuff around Boston and weekend trips north. Would like a front tire that isn't a total pig. Suggestions?

I would agree about the pressure. I'm probably running about 23-25psi up front on my 2.5 DHF and I'm sitting at about 195#. Pump it up a little and see what you find...

I ride a shorter travel ish bike (120/130) and run the suspension pretty stiff to keep it Poppy so a little more compliance is nice for the super jank new England trails. Wheres if I only road 18 road in fruita I'm pretty sure I could ride a road bike tire and feel like I had good grip ha.

Looking for something light and fast rolling like the Ardent 2.4, but with more dependable cornering. Suggestions? I tried the Minion DHF 2.6 and loved the grip, but it's too sluggish uphill.

    Forekaster, XR4?

Ardent and DHF are pretty far apart on the spectrum. Which end do you want to be closer to? There are numerous DHF "clones" that roll a bit faster.

On the other end of ardent with a bit more grip there's a lot of options too. I've heard good things about vittoria's options. Forekaster is supposed to be good too.

I only loosely suggest the Ardent Race because, overall, I'm not huge fan. But, it rolls really well, and corners noticeably better than the Ardent, which I hate. This assumes you're talking rear tire. I wouldn't run it up front.

Have you considered the Minion SS? Or others rave about the Rock Razor as a better version. I typically run the SS on the rear but haven't put it on yet this year in place of the aggressor that is on there right now. Soon...
