Interesting, I find that the 2.30's in any of the aggressive treads and good compounds are borderline overkill for most trail riding. They 2.5's are good for really rugged riding.
I ride a shorter travel ish bike (120/130) and run the suspension pretty stiff to keep it Poppy so a little more compliance is nice for the super jank new England trails. Wheres if I only road 18 road in fruita I'm pretty sure I could ride a road bike tire and feel like I had good grip ha.
