All hail Ichiro!!!! If he’s not unanimous, that’s bullshit. what was it like ten fucking years in a row @ 200 + hits and .300+ average? Plus in his prime, you did not run on his arm. 5 guy, if you know what that means.

    Oh and btw.....

    THE YANKEES WIN....T-H-E-E-E-E YANKEES WIN!!!

3 of 4 from the Astros on the road!!!! Suck it chowds!

He'll get in, though his statistical profile and skill set are weird for a corner outfielder. The sportswriters always loved him, so they won't let him wait too long.

Just watched AP get hit #2999. Was swinging good fouling stuff off hard on his potential #3000 and he got plunked. Don't think intentionally. Angels were up 8-0 at the time, I might have just grooved him personally. Hell, the O's got nothing else going for them.

Ichiro, in his prime, hit for power, hit for average, ran, fielded, three....

Hoping he doesn't get it tonight since I'm going to the Mariners game tomorrow and the Angels are in town!

He's a fun and interesting player, but he never hit for power in any meaningful way.

He didn’t hit a lot of Hrs, but he was consistently 20-30+ doubles and a few years of double figure hrs.

Ichiro certainly wasn't a classic power hitter, but he had some pop. Some people have criticized him for only being concerned about his own stats and I think that's a little unfair. I think Ichiro knew the best way he could contribute was by getting hits--mostly singles--and that's what he tried to do. Perhaps he could have attempted more sacrifices, but how much can you criticize a guy who has the single season record for base hits and has over 4,000 hits in his pro career?

It's hard for me to imagine him not doing that forever, as long as a team was ok with a .310 obp.

Someone like Ichiro definitely needs to bat north of .300 to be valuable offensively.

Ichiro has had a full career. There is really nothing left to prove, his name will be remembered in baseball history. Happy he is back in Seattle and hopefully can provide something upstairs.
AD, hope Pujols gets his #3000 for ya today. Nice milestone even though I don't really believe he was clean throughout...and honestly, don't really know how much that would even bother me if he did.

My my, some here are being dismissive of one of the greatest baseball players in history. So what if he didn't hit a lot of HRs. Sheesh.

Well obviously Seattle doesn't want him either considering he's no longer on the active roster.

And what do you mean "my lineup?" You an MLB GM now?

It was. The Mariners couldn't do anything right last night, so at least Pujols provided some entertainment.
