It sounds like there may have been a fatal avalanche in the Georgia Pass (Mount Guyot?) area today, east of Breck. Not many details, yet....
    https://www.summitdaily.com/news/bre...-georgia-pass/

ETA: confirmed fatality, in an area between the Middle Fork and Georgia Pass.

Summit Daily News updating their story, confirming it was a snowmobiler.

LDO. But today was freaking worth it. I'll take all that for laps on Super Bowl that were soft and deep and mostly untracked (wind loaded refills?), under bluebird skies.

    Excellent!

As much as I love hiking Super Bowl and Wild Child, I sort of wish there was a lift (only if the extra skier traffic allowed patrol to open that area earlier).

I bet it is windy as well.

Seems like a big avalanche cycle right now. Hope it all sheds naturally because we were having fun on big lines before this last storm. Stupid rain.

    Another fun wind event.

At least we'll get a freeze again tonight. Looking at Joel's post today looks like it was wicked warm up high.

Last two days around Arapahoe Basin weren't too warm actually. Sun didn't come out for long yesterday, and the snow on N facing slopes stayed pretty darn good and soft. Wind kept the temp down too. I'd say this incoming storm should be pretty good up there.

Lower elevations will be hurting though. Good thing most of them close this weekend.

Downed trees and branches all over Snowmass this morning. Low of 49 last night.

IA’s pretty busy right now and looks way better.

How many laps did you get in during the enduro yesterday?

52, had a blast. Wife loved it too. Now we have something to train for next year! I think the most runs that heard anyone got was 63.

    I can barely walk today...

Almost got blown off the face of the earth while riding the gondola but the skiing was really fun. Slushy but not grabby.

Crazy dust storm blowing through Durango currently. One of the most intense ones since maybe 2011?

As if the snowpack down South wasn't fucked hard enough already, I'm sure everyone is going to get some of this shit show.

Yep, it is intense, to say the least. It looked like fucking armageddon out in the San Luis Valley. I left my car windows cracked and had a layer of dust after only an hour. My eyes will never forgive me for working in this shit.

Spent a couple hours trying to sheet a roof in town before we just gave up. Fuck that noise. So gross out.

Yes, there was talk. Fuck, I really wanted to focus on skiing big lines over climbing this spring.
