Did you watch the video? I was expecting double parked cars but its the middle of fucking winter and there are snowbanks everywhere narrowing the road. This douche apparently thinks no parking is allowed in such a scenario and everyone else must cater to his bike lane. Meanwhile he chooses to ride in lanes with a wide open shoulder in other videos. Legal, sure, is he an asshole, definitely.

This is the guy who gives cyclists a bad name.

Didn't watch the video. I had better things to do. I was making a general comment about parking in bike lanes. Around here parking on the street anywhere in town is technically illegal during snow season so parking in the bike lane is still illegal no matter what the snow banks are like.

Few weeks ago the Argentine alcoholic ladies next door had a big party--no shoulder to park on, no bike lanes, just berms. I had to chase a few from my driveway. They parked in some of the neighbors driveways. The more ingenious just parked in the traffic lane until the cops ran them off.

I did watch the video stomplines posted--a couple of minutes anyway. Agree the guy is a huge asshole. And a criminal--at least he would be in CA. CVC requires vehicles going under the speed limit with 5 or more vehicles behind them to pull over and allow them to pass. Since traffic laws apply to bikes as well, he'd be a criminal here. Too lazy to look up MN law.

But I still wish I could report people parked in the bike lane. And bike riders riding in the car lane when there's a perfectly good bike lane. I wish I could report everyone I saw who broke a traffic law. Better yet, I wish I had a car mounted rocket launcher--does Subaru offer that as an option?

I'm a bit conflicted about this guy. If I had been hit over a dozen times I'd probably have a hard time not being aggro, and there's clearly no shortage of douchebaggery by drivers in his videos. He could dial back the dick factor by ~20% and still get his point across and be far less hateable. It's telling that he's never been ticketed. It's too bad his name isn't Walter because he's not wrong, just an asshole.

I mailed a very large box to my son in Boston--I had it held at a Fedex office near him. After I sent it I google street viewed the store and realized there was no parking anywhere near the place and the box was too big to be carried. I called him about it. He told me "No problem. It's Boston, I'll just park in the street with my flashers on."

Cities are a problem, especially older ones. It's understood that deliveries and the like have to be made by double parked vehicles. Riding a bike in a city does mean dealing with unavoidable obstructions--living in a city means dealing with unavoidable obstructions. You can't ride a bike in a city and expect a smooth, nonstop ride like you might have in a suburb or in the country. When people park in bike lanes when there are other alternatives that mean walking a little further that's when it becomes a problem.

I've been hit twice. Both times rolling over the hood crunching the windshield style. It's caused me to be more aware, less confrontational, and more willing to slow down or stop at something a little "off" instead of making an assumption. There's something wrong with the dude.

Hah, yeah, when I've been hit a few times I'll get back to you. Switching to bike commuting was definitely one of the best decisions I ever made, though. I hate driving to work now.

Getting hit that many times would seem to imply setting it up by being aggressively confrontational. Perhaps even creating a situation artificially. It would seem that the law of averages would have seriously maimed the guy, if not killed him in genuine car on bike crashes. Unless you're hot pizza guy, of course.

I ride 20 miles after work in rush hour traffic and get beeped plenty, sometimes because I ride like a ftard. That dude looks like he goes out to "educate" people and acts like a fing douche about any infraction. It's different than commuting to work.

All right .... maybe he was a careless, day dreaming snowflake through the 10 hits before he finally started paying attention? Really, really, really paying attention? I do think bikes are entitled to proper access when it's practical, but when this spills over into entitlement and the cyclist loses sight of the fact that they always come out on the short end, it's foolish and self-limiting. Heck, cars need to drive defensively and watch out for other cars, as big and heavy running in to big and heavy is almost as dangerous. Oh hell, we pedestrians can be just as bad, although usually not so self-righteous
