Yeah, mi188 accident, shut it at 184. Has a lane open now. Discussions about make it 3 lanes which could be nice to give truckers a place to go, but cotdam the cone zone for that one would be brutally long.
Every major hill should have a freaking truck lane. I80 in WY has it. It’s so enraging when you have a rolling lane closure (a semi) going 30mph up a hill and everyone has to squeeze in, and you have two assholes: 1) the asshole who guns it up the clear right lane to the slow truck and cuts in between vehicles in the left with no room causing everyone to slam on their brakes and 2)the asshole who goes 37 mph in the left lane, passing the truck. 🤬🤬🤯
That’s a stop and go west of the tunnel at 1pm
WTF
That’s going to be a total clusterfuck if it starts snowing

If anyone wants to feel a little bit better about I-70 for a few seconds, here's a thread about the Utards bitching about canyon closures.

Yeah, When everything is perfect it can be amazingly quick to ski in the canyons but add a storm and a weekend or holiday and holy sheer it can be as bad. I remember a powder day at Brighton and it took 2 hours from the lot to downtown SLC

"fuck off you asshat gaper shit for brains fucktard wanker." - Jesus Christ
"She was tossing her bean salad with the vigor of a Drunken Pop princess so I walked out of the corner and said.... "need a hand?"" - Odin
"everybody's got their hooks into you, fuck em....forge on motherfuckers, drag all those bitches across the goal line with you." - (not so) ill-advised strategy
Get out of here, they are not remotely comparable.
It's like 8 miles from Sandy to Snowbird, plus you can get to PC, Deer Valley, Snowbasin and Pow Mow in ~60 minutes with no traffic concerns.
That is amateur hour. I70 is KING.
But 5 hours to go 1.5 miles? That's EPIC. Or IKONIC. Or something like that.
Yeah but just 15 miles or so

Thanks, CDOT, for deciding to repaint Vail pass at 4pm during the Burton open. 1:15 Vail to Frisco today. Total standstill at the top of the pass.
Just another 4hr trip home from Copper. Typical Saturday.
Yesterday was a trip, no traffic, no lines, great weather and snow. I am very confused. I finally made it to copper instead of WP and there was almost no one on the back side of the mountain. Not sure if that's just a copper thing or I got lucky because every line at MJ is 10+ minutes.
That sounds like Copper back bowls to me. It's always uncrowded back there.
I started down that path. Got to A-Basin, ask parking lot staff for updates -- said 70 had reopened. Driving down from A-Basin, passed stand-still cars lined up to keystone I tried to flash / yell out window that 70 was back. Once back on 70 it wasn't too bad, 10 min delay at tunnel, and 15 min delay into G-town.
Well, 70 closed at the tunnel for an accident. Cdot only said "No estimate for reopening". People jump on 6 cause google tells them its moving fast, when in reality few people have service going up that road, so google's traffic estimates are basically shit. Then they are stuck there, can't find out what's going on back on 70 cause no cell service, so they hope for the best.
There was minimal weather. It was Saturday at 2:30. Most who ski frequently expected heavy traffic but probably not a clusterfuck.
As for me, I'm done having a season pass at the big resorts on I70 and feeling like I need to make it worth it. Next year back to Loveland. And a Gems card. And a van with a heater. And a dog who likes going bc skiing.
They deal with it because skiing and snowboarding is fun. Period.
Embrace the suck. We're all part of the problem.
They've got to make some changes to 6. Not sure you want people parked under the sisters for entire afternoons.
I thought they metered that area so traffic doesn’t sit under the Sisters?
2.5 hours to go from Basin to Loveland?![emoji23]
That is beyond ridiculous. Seriously...you could skin and then ski faster between the two.
