After 3 out of 5 shitty years in Tahoe, I got's LOTs of character.

How is Snow Basin skiing? Worth the trip with a free pass, or better just stay in LCC?

Originally from icecoast. 11 years gone now. I've had my share of "character building" just not interested.

As for the pass. I typically do buy before the Sept price hike. This season I did not. Once I saw the snow was low the decision was to wait until the February price drop. That's on now. I might still buy a pass. Easy break even on $725. Just haven't gotten around to going up yet..maybe tomorrow.

Being retired we ski almost everyday. Two choices, don't ski and add to my depression or ski and make the best of it. This week Alta has skied very well. Groomers are all fully covered and skied good. The 7" on Monday had Ballroom skiing great, smooth and no rocks poking out, not deep but creamy. If you can get yourself across the High T Greeley Hill, Gunsight etc were great. Backside has been good for a while. Its not like its great, IMO currently Devils Castle is not worth the effort, "go to the wall or don't go at all".. West Rustler is probably the worst but it is skiable.

Rode the lift at Targhee with an older couple from Park City. She made me laugh with the comment that "there was a pall over the town that just won't lift." Funny thing, the tourists just keep on coming since they locked in airfare and lodging a long time ago, and bought the Epic thing. Man, that's an expensive mistake.

Looks like a few SLC mags missed you by a week at Targhee. Too bad, I’ve always wanted to ski with a cranky old bastard.

Annoying long lines today at Brighton. Skiing was pretty good though.

Little man had fun in the gates too.

First season in the Wasatch full time. Got 20+ days in at Brighton so far. While the snow is lackluster compared to normal, it certainly is better than nothing at all. Have not met a lot of people on the lifts who regretted being there. I used to freak out about getting "the best snow" when paying gobs of money for long planned vacations. Now that I have the mountains right at my door step, I am so much more relaxed. Just all about enjoying the moment and increasing my ski ability.

Alta skied well today, with minimal collateral damage. Locals were out in force boosting every lip off Collins face. Saw someone do a barrel roll (rodeo 360?) off one of the Wildcat jumps.

BTW, I thought Wildcat lift was getting replaced this year?

Supreme lift was replaced last summer. Wildcat, Sunnyside and a new lift called Flora are all in the plans submitted to the FS without any specific timelines. I did have an Alta upper management person tell me there is a "big surprise" in store for this summer. We were discussing the new Supreme lift, configuration etc so I am confident the surprise is lift related. I have to say this guy also told me last year that with the new Supreme lift being a HS quad increasing uphill capacity they were going to add another groomed run to spread skiers out. I never believed this for an moment as clearing a new run on FS land is a huge endeavor. Was not the first time he passed on some sketchy info so who knows.

May be low tide out there, but we found good snow on the right aspects. Pretty spooky snowpack though.

Ho Lee Fuk did I time that right ... fun turns and full out nukeage, definitely gave a nice face lift

Headed into Toledo and Superior on Sunday and beat out the troves...ANTS everywhere... Fresh lines were all the rage.

Today was great. Upper elevations at the bird skied fantastic. Was rolling solo so no pics. Sun came out in force around 3pm and the snow felt noticeably heavier after that.

It did ski well. But I tested some of my favorite lines and they are still shark city. If I didn't have a calendar I'd say it was mid December.

The new Supreme lift is a big improvement over the old magic carpet contraption, but man that one corner is bumpy AF. Yesterday was a sleeper pow day at Alta, actually felt like winter.

Skied the Bird today and found nice left overs in Mineral and Baldy. The goal was quality over quantity. All the chutes are pretty spicy right now in the low tide conditions.

Lower mountain is definitely pretty heinous off piste. Came down under Peruvian Express to end the day and it was survival skiing, hitting rocks and roots almost every turn.
