Well that was about the best improvement in skiing done by a 1" storm possible, eh? Kinda funny that 1" makes us so grateful. You'd think it was a foot!

expected nothing and saw 4", met up with some friends who work at soli and headed out silver fork to west bowl. two laps, rode pretty well skiing the lower angle. untouched is still untouched, right?

at the Bird the wind was transporting it to P-dog side, and Cirque was skiing very well. Cirque Traverse still too bony though, be careful

Have tomorrow off, thinking about early AM brighton then fish the creek later in the day. I imagine throwing dries to dinks will be more exciting then skiing meh.

You know it! I probably have 20 days on them. Maybe 6 on my billygoats. I really like those Gots! Such a fun firm snow ski. Might need to find me another pair!

Skied with the kids at PCMR today. Jupiter skied really well. The bumps were fun, groomers fast. Way better than I thought it would be.

I'm sure it's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, but I can't bring myself to go yet. 60" base and 150" total on the season? Gosh that's depressing. Back to poking a stick in my eye.

To each his own, but there have been a bunch of really fun days this year. Alta is really not in bad shape (best in the Wasatch, probably). It is just about normal mid-December right now. Is is depressing for Feb? Yes, but skiing is skiing.

Meanwhile, back in the back country ...

I ascended and descended the South-facing slope below the saddle between Tuscarora and Wolverine then went up to the Wolverine summit and back. Didn't have time to take a run down Wolverine Bowl which was pretty much all tracked up anyway. The run back down from the saddle to the Catherine's Pass trail was worthwhile but not the greatest of snow -- lots of sun and wind damage but a few pockets of nice powder, actually, IMO, not too bad for a South-facing sloper. Also, there were only about 10-12 tracks on that fairly wide slope. The views from the summit of Mt. Wolverine were pretty great in spite of the overcast sky.

One of my favorite summit spots in the Wasatch. Yeah I have hit rocks this year. Fixed my fair share of core shots - Thanks SFB! We all have skied better conditions in better snow years. But the reason to ski is to be free and have fun. Gotta say this year has delivered smiles.

Don't you buy your pass in July to save some money and get the free perks?

There for a while I had as many days at jxn as I did at the bird but now I've been skiing at the bird quit a bit. It's been fun and the shitty conditions builds character.

33 degrees, no wind outside of a little on the summit. snow rode well enough for a second lap. didn't see a single person.

agree with this sentiment. you don't know if you don't go. sure sometimes it sucks but most times, its better than you think.
