Edit: Mishap will be fixed with a shop's help. Not a big deal.

Need more practice mounting for sure.

Somehow managed to have one toe hole ever so slightly off that may need a helicoil to make it work . Don't know how it happened.

If anyone has any other suggestions, let me know.
Post an overhead photo with the binding sitting on the ski so we can see how far off the bad hole is

It's not a big deal, I'm pals with the guys at the shop I'm going to, may as well learn some tricks while I'm there.

Turns out I botched the mount more than I thought.

Turns out the 3rd time is the charm for a fuck up.

A chunk of some sort of gunk (perhaps paint from a project this summer?) managed to get into the Jigarex arm, result was the bindings were off center by quite a bit when the arms were tightened, enough where an entire redrill is needed, on both.

    Lesson for myself.

Feel free to point and laugh, call me a jong, etc.

I deserve it after such a boneheaded mistake.

I know...but Jigarex's are supposed to be idiot proof. I guess the designers didn't have people as stoopid as me in mind.

Oh well. Live and learn. I'll make this mistake once, that I know.

But you've already screwed up twice. Sounds to me like you're in a hurry. Drink a beer and slow it down

My jigarex was missing some screws under the plates that keep the indexed slides from moving around. It would jump teeth and be miss aligned to the side. Finally took it apart, called them and got some screws. No more problems.

    I would check this out.

Oh I found something, I don't know what it was, but it was the cause of this (besides my own stupidity).

No fault in the design of the device, just my own idiocy.

Some people should not be allowed to own tools so maybe the thread title should have been " mount your own fucking skis ... if you can "

Gotta learn some way right? Hopefully my mistake will make others double check their jigs.

If the jig hadn't been crooked, it would have been basically a perfect mount

Always triple check alignment. A simple trick is to draw a center line on your skis and a center mark on each end of the Jigarex.

you could Pay someone to do it

IME there is all kinds of things one can pay people to do for them

and then make the money to pay for that service by doing what they are good at

It does not mean one is less of a human being

There are people out there who shouldn't own tools but are way > at making money

some of them even know how women think

This... I filed a centerline on both ends of my Jigarex and double check it with a micrometer prior to drilling.

Yep. That's true, but people make mistakes. I did and I'll learn from it.

Not a bad idea on the Jigarex. Will definitely do that next time around.
