At least I70 hasn't gotten this bad. I don't know how people in LA can deal with this shit:

Definitely worth a separate thread before renewal season.
It seems as if our pass buying decisions are as much influenced by our friends' choices as what makes sense to us.
Me? I don't have that problem 'coz I have no friends ;-)
All this talk about Loveland (for example) gives rise to my thinking about it next year. Still, the Basin feels like home, and for $199 weekday pass, it seems like a no-brainer (maybe combined with a couple of Loveland 4-packs).

Loveland four packs are a great deal. No risk, you just need to take stock in March and sell what you don't need.

I think this thread repeats itself every 4 months or so.
Two interesting reads:
Just a few (5%) self driving cars can change traffic patterns for the better ending stop-and-go

Self-driving EV cars would totally disrupt the auto industry, oil industry, and more within 10 years of being allowed, no car dealers, and almost total value loss of used cars and near end of individual ownership:

I did find this interesting in their research: "Under normal circumstances, human drivers naturally create stop-and-go traffic, even in the absence of bottlenecks, lane changes, merges or other disruptions"
People simply SUCK at driving. That's all there is to it.

I'm all on board with self driving car tech. Can't wait till I can sit in the back seat with a full bar, hookers, and blow while I am magically transported wherever I want to be.
Adverse weather is going to be a wildcard to making that work... or we'll just see even more highway closures whenever the computers have trouble seeing
4x4 vehicles will probably still be desirable... autodrive cars aren't going to take you up a forest service road.

I'm disappointed to see so many people willing to hand their freedom and liberty over to robots that will ultimately be controlled by incompetent bureaucrats. More sheepeople in the making. Sad and dumb at the same time. Glad I'm old and will be dead before full implementation
Nobody is talking about handing their driving over for nothing.
In return you save time, money and are safer.
The computers will be better than all but a tiny handful of drivers on an individual basis, and much better when considering traffic and emergencies. The computer can be more situationally aware and literally read the other cars' minds.
All autodrive cars can go faster and traffic is vastly reduced so that is an actual time savings. You could get work done so that is a productivity advantage. You will save money too.
So how much freedom and liberty would you really trade? For more money you could get your own robot car so you would never wait and can leave stuff in it, and you can probably get a model with a manual 4x4 mode so you can get on the trails when the pavement ends.

ok we'll come up with a solution by then makers....
Inflight movies will be literally ANY movie you want to watch.
Hell - there won't be any reason for windows in most of the vehicles. Maybe side windows for ambient light and to have something to look at when you aren't playing games on your phone.
Seats will all face inward - there will be no reason to have "front-facing" seats.
Old people will become MORE free. Handicapped people will become more free.
I'd wager that the net "freedom" will be greater for society as a whole.
BRING 'EM ON.
And if you *really* want to drive - you go to the track and rent an actual "fun-to-drive" car and have a hoot.
With all the $$ and time you save track days will be reasonable for most people that want to drive for fun.
I for one welcome our self driving car overlords!
Though I highly doubt that techxplore article's timeline.
