The people who bitch at CDOT for proposing a band-aid fix are probably the same people who either voted for or support TABOR. CDOT is doing what they can with the shit funding we offer them. Personally, I have noticed a substantial improvement due to their last "band-aid" fix and am fully supportive of adding a similar westbound lane.

Face it...the TABOR law is flawed because people are inherently selfish. Why vote for school funding if you don't have a kid? Why vote for highway funding if you don't drive on the road that is going to be improved? Unless a project will personally benefit a majority of the population, nothing that requires an increase in tax dollars will ever get done until that law is off the books.

I have no kids, and very rarely take trains or buses, and I vote yes for every school and fastracks measure possible. Also not minimum wage and voted to increase that. I think your broad paintbrush misses a lot of spots.

good work...you are part of the solution. Do you support TABOR?

I agree that I made a generalization that isn't true of all. However, i would bet that most of the people who support tabor also vote "no" on just about any proposed tax increase on the ballot unless that increase personally would benefit them. I also know that many liberal areas tend to fund their schools and local municipal projects, partly because of the personal benefits and partly because liberals are more often democratic socialists who are willing to support projects that benefit the "common good"

I pick my battles and politics isn't usually one of them. But lots of people don't see tabor going away. If you want to fight that battle, it would be best to try to modify it rather than repeal.

As many people have written, crappy driving skills and lack of knowledge (to include motorists and truckers), crappy equipment, lack of planning, and entitlement mindset have a lot more to do with this problem than the actual road itself.

Yeah I suppose that is a symptom of the mindset, but it doesn't really manifest itself in worse traffic.
What I meant primarily, is you have all of these jackasses weaving in traffic cutting people off, which causes the other driver to hit the brakes, which causes the ripple effect, or an accident that shuts the road.
That said, left lane campers going way under the speed limit could be entitlement as well. "My road, I'll go the speed I want" etc

    OFFICIAL I70 BITCH THREAD....

Speaking of horrific drivers: while driving WB by the Gennesee exit this morning, some asshole in the left lane cut across all three lanes to exit (baaaarely made it) and in the process almost got flattened by a semi in the right lane, and caused 10 cars in back of him to slam their brakes and almost a chain reaction accident. Unreal.

I am a huge supporter of tabor, think it's the greatest thing for goverment

The problem is the scum sucking politicians love to tax tax tax and piss peoples money away with no accountability so people don't trust government or where their tax dollars go

I support at least a 50 cent increase in gas taxes and taxing the shit out of electric hybred cars too with massive yearly registration fees to offset not paying a gas tax

but that's just me, if a real leader showed up and explained to people how good a gas tax increase would be and where the money would go then people might buy in, then again people bought into fast tracks and look at what a joke that turned out to be do you think they will get a sales tax increase in another year when they bring that to that to vote?

Rumor mill says the Colorado Contractor's Association is going to get a petition going to get it on the ballot this year.

So they're still going for the sales tax increase. In an off-year election. It's a bold move, let's see how it works out for them.

I can understand why they did this... you know - 'cause if you miss your exit, next thing you know you'll be in Utah.

If only they would make exits every 3 or 4 miles, you could... you know - go to the next one, exit safely, turn around and come back to the exit you missed.

If only the highway designers would THINK. Dumbasses.

^^ Ha, one of my favorite characters ever. (adrenelated's post)

TABOR definitely sucks ass. It's why the roads suck, it's why the teachers don't get paid shit, and it's why Saban will never coach at CU. The only brightside is that is so badly handcuffs the state, it has probably slowed growth considerably.

As for driving lessons, I was bold enough or dumb enough to drive a car in Colombia 10 days ago. As far as I can tell, CO drivers are all perfect.

Is this not a mile? If not, it's barely over a mile and certainly not a big deal to simply miss the exit, turn around at Chief Hosa and not almost kill someone.

Crazy busy up at AB yesterday... Obviously, the first bluebird day after a week straight of snow, and AB being the only show in town and all, the masses would not be turned away... They should set up border patrol in Limon... CO is officially full.
