Jackson, WY (2-10-17 11:50 am) Teton Village/Airport Outage Update (photo of 7am morning briefing)

Current restoration estimate has been moved to late Saturday, barring any unforeseen weather or equipment related issue.

We currently have 11 wooden poles in the ground. We will replace the 17 steel transmission poles with approximately 28 wooden poles. The wooden poles are temporary and we will spend the rest of the winter and spring evaluating how best to replace the transmission system in the summer. We will also remain vigilant and maintain those poles regularly tell the temporary structures are fully replaced.

Weather is continuing to add some complexity to the restoration of power along with the limited work space at the Teton Village site. Our truck deliveries have managed to get through the road closures as we’ve now received emergency equipment and hardware from Arkansas, Denver, Boise and Salt Lake City.

We would like to again extend our thanks to all the local and regional entities who have without hesitation sent tremendous resources to help us, most especially the 5 neighboring utilities: High Plains Power, Idaho Falls Power, Fall River Rural Electric, Bonneville Power, and Wasatch Electric, along with the crews from the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. We truly appreciate the patience, support and understanding of this community we are proud to serve.
Just saw this on FB, very good news! These guys are killing it trying to get everything back up and running, and you better believe the mountain resort has a big hand in making all of this happen $$$$

where did you guys see that update? my google research skillz are failing me

I think re: bury the power lines- seems like everyone is basically for it but they said it was about 10x the cost initially so that was the deciding factor. But I'd place a pretty solid bet that they move fwd on burying them since they need to be redone now

We'd see this Eagle all the time last summer sittin' on top of the power pole. It's going to be confused when it comes back this summer

I was driving some folks to the village this summer and pointed out Ol Baldy chillin' on the pole. One guy said it's likely fake to scare away other eagles so they don't get electrocuted, because eagles only sit on trees, and that this one was just too big to be a real eagle. I just murmured "you're prolly right".

Dude, that's the best. I can never do that. You should've told him that the coyotes you see out in the field on the way are fake too, to scare away the marmots that are undermining the road.

Skier triggered Inbounds slide at Snow King? Crazy. Nobody caught.

Plugboots I'll be out there that same week with my wife and kids and a couple three other friends...long scheduled since my stepson is in high school and we don't want to pull him out anymore. Week starting March 11th. FYI there are two good shows that week - Elephant Revival on Sunday night and Yonder Mountain String band on Thursday night.

LVE sounds confident village power will be restored by 5p today. If that's the case, likely JHMR can open for the Sabbath.

I think they are still calling for a Monday opening. I was out there again today and they were still pulling lines near the Ranch lot.

No first hand knowledge but chances are good that all the bars and restaurants will have to restock their freezers and coolers unless they were able to document temps or store stuff in a refrigerated trailer.

We were talking about this. Had some high winds in CO and lost power for a bit on Thurs night. I have a deep freeze full of meat. I keep a cup of frozen water with a quarter on top in it to make sure things never thaw out.

In the cult I'm a member of, the Sabbath is Monday. Also powder days.

Other cults observe the Sabbath on Saturdays. While most other worldwide cults view Sunday as the Sabbath.

I'll be flogging myself in the first box tomorrow morning.... observing the Sabbath.

Ive got a friend who is a full time patroller there. Said the skiing has been epic. Those guys are running routes, maintaining the mountain and skiing tons of pow while the mt was closed.

The skiing was OK this morning, certainly not the historical day it could have been. A little crusty of trail.

I'd love to know what sales tax collections on liquor/beer was. Town went on a 5 day drinking binge during Snowmageddon. It was great.

Definitely variable conditions this morning. Pow, slush, ice, mank, wet slide off Four Pines... but kudos to the patrol and operations crews for getting the mountain open.

I was day-drinking daily since the blackout... and had to embrace sobriety this morning to return to the office. Absolutely dreadful.

Conversely, one could continue day-drinking until the blackout.
