In the last 800,000 years it hasn't been this high. Humans did not live 800,000 years ago. The earth doesn't care what we do, we aren't destroying the earth. We are destroying where we can live, and eventually, the climate will be unable to sustain our population. The earth will shake us off, and over millions of years normalize. But for the sake of self preservation, lets see where all this pesky CO2 comes from.

    OCTANE:
    C18H18 + (O2+3.76N2) = CO2 + H2O + N2

    CETANE:
    2 C16H34 + 49 O2 = 32 CO2 + 34 H2O

    METHANE:
    CH4 + O2 = CO2 + H20

It's fairly simple stoichiometry that shows how in the last 200 or so years CO2 levels have risen. Generally, in our past, higher CO2 levels mean higher average temp. (Dinosaurs in eastern Montana, giant bugs, a lot of ferns) It's not rocket science to see where this is going, shit its not even rock science. I generally don't like to argue about this because it only adds validation that there are two sides, but come the fuck on. Climate change deniers should be in the same boat as the flat earthers, ridiculed for stupidity. And though you may do really cool stuff on a pair of skis, your critical thinking skills and gullibility should be mocked.

You lost me with the dinosaur thing. What was your point again? Are you saying that we know the temperatures from a zillion years ago?

How someone can be a skier, yet still deny the existence of climate change is a testament to how far one can shove their head up their own ass.

Hope everyone in JH is doing ok. Crazy storm for sure. The pictures of the towers are unreal.

did/doing same. Although hotel was down (obviously) and the 800 # didn't have any info - I was the bearer of bad news based on the pictures I saw early Wed AM for them.

I can see the Alpenrose breakfast buffet being a bit sparse over the next few days if the walk in is down.

It could dampen lunchtime plans for anyone planning to have schinkenwurst and souse sandwiches on the hill.

They probably don't want the post-BBI sickness that's making the rounds, either

In other news, TGR is streaming "The Big One" until the resort reopens, so that's nice:

Maybe for season pass holders? I wonder what's in the fine print for situations like this.

I'm pretty sure the permit w/ the USFS limits them to a certain number of operating days a season. Days when they're closed and no public is on the hill don't count as operating days so they can adjust the schedule as they see fit.
