    Plasti Dip

Anyone Plasti Dip their car wheels, emblems, mirrors, etc.?

I've been reading up on it and it seems pretty damn cool (and EASY). How long does it last?

Thinking about starting with just some small stuff. Bought one can of black.

Also curious if it is something you can use to pimp a bike out or other things?

Personaly I'm an Aqua Seal fan boy but IME people would rather watch something slowly disintegrate in front of their eyes than take any action to fix it ...so they can complain on the internet

VLP liquid vinyal is good for ...vinyal repair

    never got into plasti-dip

Plastidip is lame for the most part, but does have its advantages occasionally. I plastidipped the chrome (oem) mirrors on my cruiser. Way easier than removing chrome or sanding, so for recovering chrome bits it's OK. It has held up pretty well. But for finishing wheels or anything bigger, get it painted or powder coated properly.
That is my opinion, and if everyone did the same shit to their cars that I do, the scene would be pretty boring.
Fortunately for me the chrome grills on my bimmer were plastic dipped and was easy to remove to make it look nice again.

Plastidip doesn't hold up well. The video I posted looks like a cool product.

I typically have to pay around 5000 bucks to get a car wrapped. That process looks a whole lot cheaper.

Despite what all the "experts" above said, IME plasti-dip (or one of the similar products) works quite well. I've painted three sets of wheels, and not only do they hold up, but it also protects the finish of the original wheels. The only time I have to touch up the wheels is when I have tires swapped out, because those machines gouge the wheel edges and rip the plasti-dip off. It takes about 10 minutes to fix.

I put 4-5 coats on each wheelset... pretty easy to do, just make sure you tape off lug nuts, cover brake rotors, etc. Each coat dries in 15-20 minutes, so the whole process takes less than two hours. Personally, I'd rather spend $10 on a couple of cans instead of $600+ for a new set of rims.

From everything I've read the Plasti Dip holds up just fine. Cheap. Easy. Lasting.

dipped my summer wheels on my 4runner.

Just like painting, most of the work is prepping, sanding, and cleaning the alloy wheel.

Has held up well the past 3 years. Ran over something so there is damage and peeling to one wheel but otherwise holds up fine.

    Interested in this aqua seal....

I've got it on my personal vehicle too. Looks the same as everyone else's blacked-out wheels, and it's a helluva lot cheaper.

I live up narth where shit tends to just break or gets rusty SO If you are considering plasti-dip why not just fog them rims with some Rustoleom or SFT?

I started hating BMW's wheels once they stopped making most of them in a powder coat finish. Seems like sometime after the e90 era. Just a good clean look.

Plastidip works great in the harsh north woods. It's a MN product. Make your rims black. Make your truck green

This guy plastidipped a RX-7. All the wheels I have seen dipped, chip in short order.

It's more of a off roader / tuner product anyhow. Not many of my Rolls customers ask me to dip their wheels.
