What condition was it 'recovered' in?

Pretty good I think. Haven't seen all the details. The kicker is, I think once a car is stolen and recovered, in any condition, it gets a salvage Utah title. I could be wrong but I think that's what happens.

    Interesting.

I can only imagine that car's last few days on the lam.

Haha. No shit. Apparently they broke the front glass out of the showroom and just drove it out? Who the fuck leaves the keys to a 1.6 mil car accessible? Someone's paying the fiddler on this one.

Pretty sure it's the one I photographed last month.. That one was on consignment I think. Same guy told me one of their prior clients pre-ordered one, never drove it, flipped it for a few hundred grand & bought a ~GTS or similar 911.

my money is on an inside job :O

Keys in a dealership, are always locked up.

Most of the time, employees have a number, and check the key out to that number.

The Porsche store I ran, had a locker that took your picture, every time a key was checked out or put back.

It's really a dumb idea to steal a car that is so rare. They would've been much better off stealing an Accord.

Usually shit like this is all over social media.

The guy must've known he was going to get caught. He was pulled over Monday afternoon on State street less than nine blocks from the dealership, and didn't try to flee. Hope he didn't jack it up too much.
On a happier note, saw this little gem on a walk yesterday.

    Kinda cool Deephelmet.

    Just started reading about it.

So the 911R. They should've made more.

Yup. It's the perfect 911, right down to the houndstooth cloth seats. I like the green trim.

The houndstooth was also in the 911 50. Really cool car. Since the 911R is unattainable.

Powerkit, C4S wide body but rear wheel drive, green dials. Sure to appreciate.

I read the 911 R sold out even before the first one was built. That will be high six figure car in no time.

500 hp out of a normally aspirated 4.0 liter flat six. That's mad science right there.

918 buyers are offered first right of refusal on any special car. I imagine the 911R did not break out of that circle.

Someone has already listed a 911R for 1M...

It is pretty wild how consistently their engines produce ~100hp/liter or more. Here's 200hp out of a 2.0L flat 4 in 1965:

6cyl in that exact car fwiw

356 coupe brother. Predecessor to the 911, but it did carry the Carrera name on a couple trims I think. There was an old SC "super carrera" on facebook yesterday -->

The M12 laughs in your collective faces. 1.5L 4cyl turbo - 1500hp of formula goodness.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_M12

" ... with only a single turbo, the BMW M12 suffered from approximately 2 seconds of turbo lag meaning drivers often had to start accelerating through the apex of a corner. The power from the turbo was described by many (including Piquet and Berger) as coming on like a light switch which often induced power oversteer in BMW powered cars. This was a major reason that the BMW was generally seen at its most competitive at power circuits such as Kyalami, Imola, Paul Ricard, Silverstone, Hockenheim, the Österreichring and Monza. On tighter tracks such as street circuits like Monaco which required greater acceleration and less top speed, the BMW powered cars often lagged behind their major rivals.

    Yeah. That's a F355. Love those.

    That's the car to buy.

Not that I can afford one or am looking but what are F355s going for these days?

And Huckbucket, that engine sounds terrifying.

80-110K for most examples. 140-170k to get a pristine, low mile, manual.
