No one ended up hassling me, but the guy I talked to had been before.
The concrete barriers predate KsL and are not really part of access restriction. Most of the time they have been open and get closed off when no employees are around for theft prevention more than access blockage. I've not had a problem post season w them and skinning yet.

This discussion regarding access for sleds and skiers is timely. The Tahoe backcountry alliance says that initial comments regarding USFS over the snow vehicle plan, as well as parking, BC skier, and non motorized snow access are due by May 2nd.

As I enjoy both sledding and skiing, I think that the current access to backcountry areas for each activity is fairly reasonable, but there is an ever present feeling that these activities will be squeezed and further limited, or not considered. For example, the removal of parking along the roadway near emerald bay last fall that was fought for and was finally accommodated. Whatever your opinion, more voices need to be heard. Let's take a moment to comment on the Tahoe forest service plan.

I actually went to one of the open houses and found that the forest service people were extremely friendly and solicitous of comments. Basically, it seemed like they really needed help getting an idea of the user groups out there and their needs/interests. So yeah, the more people input, the better. They definitely need to know about every access point that you want to keep open and concerns for future conflict/restriction.

Started down a south facing line that was money about 10, but what looked like it went from town after the new snow yesterday was burnt out, ended up dropping a more east facing line that had not consolidated yet, so it was kinda on the manky side.

Never heard a name for that either. I just call it Full Moon. Anyone got something better?

I don't know the names of the other two 'couloirs' either...I just call them all Moon Crescent and signify 'center' Moon or 'far lookers left' Moon.

Always been my understanding that there are 2 crescent lines (right and left) as they share the bottom pitch
That other line that's lookers left isn't part of the crescent as it is on it's own off to the side. So I would call Jeff's line the left crescent. I've never heard a name for the stand alone left line

Funny how some of the most prominent lines in some of the most popular backcountry areas in Tahoe don't have names, while at the ski areas every individual rock and tree and variation of a line has a name. Fuck it, I'm declaring it Full Moon, just for reference sake, so when someone says "left crescent", I don't have to say "you mean skiers left or lookers left?".

That's all it takes mmmmpow. Someone starts calling a line by name amongst friends. Then that name gets repeated in bars and on the internet and maybe even put in a guidebook and next thing ya know, it's named

How about half moon, since it's half way between the two lines, and full moon makes it sound like it's more committing than crescent.

    Or, Sea of Tranquility
Or Dark Side of the Moon
