Right on, I haven't either out here. Heard the populations are doing well, but they don't talk very well and are much more skittish than the birds that beg to be shot in the panhandle. Best of luck to him!

Yesterday I drove along the road to KC as far Little Kelley and turned around. Just out for a afternoon drive with the camera. I decided to drive down the river road a bit, just to see what the snow conditions were like, stopped short of the campground and got out to enjoy the very nice weather. It's kinda marshy along that stretch. Anyway, this eagle landed in the tree next to me with a large and unfortunate whitefish. The eagle looked at me for about 15 to 20 seconds and then the whitefish, not quite willing to give it up yet, started flopping around, about unseating the large bird. Alas no such luck for the poor creature, and even had it escaped it would have fallen to the ground, far from the water's edge. The eagle regained control, paid me no further mind and devoured the fish in minutes. Brutally. Like a T-rex.

Saw a group of turkeys on the road up to Targhee on spring, they were pretty cool.

Already a small population and a few Tags for the Salmon zone. Never bumped into one up there though.

Anybody that lives in E Idaho,/W Wyoming knows how windy it was today. We didn't have anything better to do, so we went snowboarding. Dang son, got a bit extreme for a while. Did not get the camera out except at the base area.

Turner and his girlfriend Alyssa. She is still learning, and having a blast while she does so.

Anyway....yesterday (Targhee) it was pretty messed up on the hill. DC wind-stopped, Sacajawea with a substantial, though tolerable wait in line that dumped you off into some pretty f'n wild ass blizzard. Did a few runs and bailed to the base. Went over to Shoshone thinking Alyssa could use some easier terrain and better viz. But.....even the top of Shoshone was near whiteout. Snow was nice though.

However, this guy at the bottom of Shoshone, the bearded one. Big beardly beard. He said a couple of things to us, and seemed mildly irritated with us, though I don't know if he was like that with everyone. He was a bit rude to Alyssa, in manner and voice. Then a bit later as Trent and I were loading on a chair he yelled at us to not get snow on his ramp. I was just dumbfounded. Really, did I hear that right? Naw. Couldn't be. But he continued to be rude and ignorant as the chair pulled away...... I mean really? Anybody know him?

Grumpy old bastard? Special Ed? Seriously, does he have some kind of disability? Was he just having a bad day? Did we transgress? WTF? Sure seemed way over the top. Having been a part time lifty for 10 year, those words never came out of my mouth.

He usually a good dude, crusty and speaks in sarcasm, but a good dude and is especially patient with kids and gapers on Shoshone. In fact I voted for his chili in the cook off last week.

Hmm. Yeah, I wondered if it wasn't a sarcasm exchange gone wrong. No smiley faces to toss up into the air. I paid it little mind anyway, but Trent has not learned to not let other people ruin his day. Angered him for a bit. He'll learn, might take till he is old though. ;-)

As warm as it's been, and what the forecast is showing for high temps here in the valley, I can sense the beginning of the end. Not that there won't be some great days ahead, but we are on the downhill side of the winter ride. Could use some vitamin D anyway.

^nice! there has been much talk in my household recently about shed antlers, it seems the hippies may convince the hunters to go for a walk with dreams of fast cash from momma earth.

I sure wouldn't mind some moose antler on my wall.
