Limping around the house today. Hurt my knee at Targhee yesterday. Didn't feel anything till I got out of the car in our driveway. Ouch. Once I get going it's fine, but if I sit for more than a few minutes it stiffens up and ouch again. Yes, I wrecked, pretty good, during which I had the thought.... "Man am I glad I don't have a couple of skis beating me to death right now." 😉 Planning on The Ghee on Saturday, it better be healed.

Thanks! Yeah, Targhee has been pretty good to me this year. Where I am waiting for spring to find appropriate work, I do have a season pass, and I am going to use it while I can. ;-)

Tate and I only spent about four hours up there yesterday, as he had pulled an all nighter. But damn he rides hard. I am at the same time awesomely impressed and somewhat freaked out, a bit terrified really, watching the shit he does. This shot just before he launches off a rock. the only decent shot I got because I was so close to him with the zoom, wasn't prepared, and camera would not focus in the flat conditions. Plus I didn't think he would actually do it, the photo really doesn't convey the height nor steepness. We went back to the car, put the camera away cuz' fuck that, ate lunch, let Tate sleep for an hour and went back up for a few more runs. Was a good day.

Liam, Trent and I went up to Palisades a couple of days ago. I've tried to show my children the wonder of the natural world, and now it is Liam's turn.

We woke to 4 inches of fresh snow at the house yesterday. I opened the door to show Liam. He stood there looking out, I could see that he was trying to grasp the incredible change in the scenery from the day before. He looks at me finally and said, "Me like the snow."

It looks terrible, but is only a nuisance at worst. Was climbing down the cliff to visit the eagles and slapped myself accidentally with an in-the-way sagebrush. Thought it was only a bit of bark under my eyelid. Tried to pull up on my eyelid to evict the invader, but could not dislodge the suspected speck. I took a photo of my eye with my tablet to see if i could see what the hell was going on. DAMN! HOLY SHIT! Man that looks bad, way worse that it should have. So... do I turn around and head home and to the doctor? No, I continue to down climb the cliff to check on the eagles.


I did go to the Doctor. Even he winced when he looked at it. Turns out that I burst a blood vessel in my eye. Doctor said it should be OK, no damage to my vision. So now..... I get "OHMYGODWHATTHEHELLHAPPENEDTOYOU?" from everyone I see.

Yeah, that isn't the sort of thing that is easy to ignore. I mean, when it happened i was all like "wow, that is certainly irritating", but I considered waiting till I was all the way down to the nest before addressing said irritant. But I thought no, let's get rid of it now. Like I said, I took a photo at the place of incident.

Hard to ignore, but I did for an hour. Used that eye to focus my camera on the eagles. Would have liked to have stayed longer.

Amazing pics of the eagles. Went out this evening to watch the grouse dance, but too dark for pictures. I will need to try to get out one morning.

The eagles are awesome to watch from my vantage point. Even when little is happening in the nest, I have such an awesome view of other stuff of interest. Peregrine Falcons, Sand-hill cranes, Deer, Moose...etc.
