Oh Gawd, you wood have to type that.

Key to sours and funky is training your palate. I am now enjoying Berliner Weiss that I split into two batches, Pears in one and Pawpaw in the other with each getting different yeasts after a 48 hr lacto hot tub.

    No food needy.

Definitely don't need food to enjoy a sour or funky beer. That said, though, sours pair better with food than most beers, IMHO. The sourness cuts through fatty, rich or spicy food especially well.

I think that the Julius was my favorite of the three. I've never been a big fan of cloudy IPAs, seems the yeast can detract from the hops, that said, they were all three very tasty and I couldn't detect any off flavors from the yeast so these have changed my mind.

I'd say, it went Julius, Twenty Three, Second fiddle. Liked all three, drank them three different days so as not to overwhelm the pallet. Second Fiddle was more piney and heavier than the other two, and I tend to lean more towards citrus which was the Julius. Twenty Three (where does that name come from?) was a nice, lighter bodied IPA that I also enjoyed. Of course it has been a few weeks of heavy drinking since I tried them so my impressions might be a little hazy
The 2nd Fiddle was piney to me as well and after having a few have really grown on me. It;s super clear, crisp and finishes great. Excellent Beer. Julius is awesome. The Curiosity 23 is a beer in a progression of small batch brews they release, this being the 23rd. They come and go and I don't know if they ever have or will repeat, but they should. Its a perfect starter before going for the doubles.

I had a Palette Mallet and Captains Daughter for the first time thanks to PJ09. Both were excellent. The CD is an instant favorite and the PM has a great name and tastes great too.

Speaking of lost nation they make a very decent Pilsner.
LN Gose is one of the best out there. Two Road makes a great one too

Such a good beer. I was only able to get my hands on some Fair Maiden this weekend. Lunch was also on tap....... This was prob my first trip to VT that I didn't drink any Lawson's. I am going to say it and don't care, focal banger is so much better than Heady Topper.

MPPG the secret to sours is pouring it down the drain! They remind me of the soap my mom used to put in my mouth when I cursed. I don't get it.....

I've really been liking Track 7 brew co out of Sacramento lately. Both their regular Panic IPA and their double, and the session isn't bad either. Plus, cans are always nice to have as an option.

Had one of these the other day. Very tasty, strong fruity tones without being overly sweet and no bite, would never have guessed an ABV of 8.5%. This would make an excellent summer night beverage.

Stopped in at Maine Beer Co today and picked up 6 each of lunch and Another One, super easy drinkers. MMP I think I like the last batch of Green better than Julius. Just a humble opinion but they went down smoother to me anyway.

I love Julius, but, I like Green and Alter Ego more. There is a very fine line because they are all awesome. The carbonation and mouthfeel of the Green is lighter and brighter IMO. I'll be grabbing 16 Green tomorrow. My kid is in town, so he's coming with.

It was pretty good. I liked Stone Drink By 1/1/16 better. Definitely wouldn't go out of my way to get it but would get it if I was there.

Local boys brewing up some good shit. I've never had Julius, but the guy filling growlers said this is essentially the same thing. Either way, it's really good and highly drinkable. Their "Zep on the Jukebox" IPA is also damn good.

The same as Julius. Go back and tell that guy to shut his whore mouth.

I got your Julius. You should try it.

Your wife harshed my mellow yesterday on Facebook. A guy can't even bitch about grocery shopping when he should be skiing, without some wife telling you to count your blessings.

Not to divert the thread, but there's an ongoing trend on Facebook with myself and several of my friends - anytime someone posts a ski or mountain-biking picture of any kind, someone's wife will make the obligatory "your wife must be great letting you ski / bike all the time" comment. It's getting really, really fucking old.

In better family news, my sister in law signed me up for a "beer club" type deal (like a wine club) for x-mas - a shipment of random beers comes once per quarter. Pretty good idea. First one should show up any day now.

Ha, here is a good one for you along those lines. I take my dog to run in some woods in the neighborhood every day and usually, I don't see too many people but once in a while I see this late 50's/early 60's lady with her yappy little poodle looking thing. I say hello but don't know her name or where she lives, occasionally we have a very brief conversation about the weather or some other random crap but nothing more than that in 4-5 years of bumping in to each other. A few weeks ago we run in to each other and out of the blue she says "Hey, don't you have a job, I see you out here all the time"..somehow my response just came to me without hesitation, "sure, but I only work enough to support my beer, snowboarding and heroine habits". The look on this woman's face was something I would have gladly paid money to have on video. I just kept walking and said, have a great day. My guess is she will be carrying pepper spray or a glock next time I see her.
