Think I have seen hoka high tops, but not sure if you are into the macro thing. In on my 4th pair of hokas and have flipperish feet. Only ones that have me width issues were the conquests. I dunno- I'm a hoka head.

La Sportiva Crossover 2.0 seems to fit your description. I had a low top pair that fit my wide foot fine.

Signed up for a half in April. Time to get back in the running habit.

Did this one 2 years ago, skipped it last year as our son was due right around then. Great course, finishes at New Belgium Brewery with free beer for runners. Helps the motivation the last few miles.

That's typical for me when I'm coming back after a break from running. Arthritis, I think. It should go away. Or maybe you're old enough to switch to Hoka shoes.

I get the same thing...never could figure out why. If I do back to back marathon cycles I don't see it....but if I pare back from 50mpw+ to 20-25mpw after a marathon for an off-season break I do. A mystery!

Doing a fair amount of road running these days. Wearing a headlight in low light/dark conditions, but otherwise have fairly dark gear. What are you folks wearing to make yourself more visible?

Running on the treadmill is less fun than running outside

Picked up this combo with a new pair of shoes this weekend. Slightly different vest, same concept.

Not sure how you can handle having that belt on OldLarry, I think that would drive me nuts.

Yea. I absolutely cannot do the treadmill.

Had a great run Saturday morning. Bluebird with a few inches of new snow. Amazing what running does for my psyche.

Hah, it's not quite as bad as that. But yeah, even with the Seattle game on I could only muster an hour's worth of running before I was over it.

Been too busy to do much running lately, but Billy Yang just came out with a film about UTMB/CCC (Chamonix area) and it is amazing. I need to get back there. Beautiful, and cool that the Americans did well.

Had one of those nearly perfect runs yesterday. I came to a fork in the trail where my usual route would have been to go like 8 or 9 miles but I was getting pulled down the other way which is more like 13 miles. I had stuff to do all afternoon so I planned to go the shorter way but I just couldn't do it when the time came to go left. So glad I went right and took the longer way. What a glorious morning to be out. Sun shining, birds chirping, no wind, low humidity, temp in the mid 40s.

Nice Cruiser. Was a great day weather wise for it.

Put in 6 yesterday. About 7 weeks out from the half. Feeling good.

Cruiser, I would love to have a 13 mile trail run available right now...

Pavement miles are killing me. Just upgraded from Aisic GT2000 v2 to v3 and it's like an entirely different show. They must have made the "support" foam stiffer putting me on the outside of my foot, which after 10 miles leads to some rather unhappy outside metatarsals. Should have ponied up for the Hoka's.

Hoka shoes help a bunch for my chronically bad back (herniated disc and/or stenosis). Chuckanut 50K sweep is 19 days away. My conditioning is on track, legs and lungs feeling fine. Hope my back holds up.

Yesterday I was like 8 or 9 miles in and I turned a corner to go past the McLellen Reservoir. My view was looking west over the reservoir toward the foothills and the snow covered peaks beyond when this song came up in my shuffle. It was out freaking standing. One of those pure "release from samsara" kind of moments where I was like, "This is it. This is why I run."

I've been running quite sometimes, but never really got into races until I moved to New York.
I joined NYRR (New York Road Runners) and started running races around the city since 2010.
I ran my first half 2012 and finally ran my first full marathon last year 2015 New York City Marathon.

I love how long distance running puts me into certain stage of mind.
    It's almost zen like experience.
Also my runner's legs never let me down at the mountain is a big plus.

I'm not running a full marathon this year.
But I'll be running 4-5 half marathons.

I started running a 5k every morning with my 95# chocolate lab as a way to run some of the energy out of him. The first couple of days felt like work but now it feels totally normal. I cancelled my gym membership since I was only using it to run on a treadmill a couple of times a week anyway. I don't even need to set an alarm clock as the dog gets excited and wakes me up 15 minutes before the alarm would normally go off.

It would be nice to shed the last 15# of vanity weight I can't seem to get rid of but so far that hasn't happened. I am down about 4# though and feel a lot more fit. Other than the 1/2 hour of sleep I'm not getting every day I really haven't found a down side.

The runner's high is certainly real, at least for me. Running has become critical to my well being.

Picked up a copy of Zen and the art of Running at the local used bookstore. Good for motivation. Yesterday I found myself zoned out for a mile or so, and the legs just go into auto pilot.
