Any tried the Kuiu packs? The Ultra 3000 is 3lbs...used to use Eberlestock...good packs, but not the lightest.

Yes they are...and I think all their clothes are 30% off tomorrow. They do the sale every November. Good time get some stuff...problem is most of us have blown our budget and goodwill with the wife at that point. Last thing she wants to here after all the seasons have wrapped up is that I bought more gear ;-)

word on the street is that the kuiu don't handle loads that well and I have seen some pictures of broken frames. Stone glacier are the lightest that are rated to 130lbs. I have personaly had 2 boned out elk hinds on mine. it was a heavy fucker but carried well. Made in USA vs china. The exo, kifaru , and stone glacier are in a league of their own. check out the video on stone glacier site for their gun sling. Very slick and puts your gun weight on your hips. takes 3 seconds to be ready to shoot.

buy the tikka take the savings and invest in a pack that will last you for 20 years. Even if the gun weighs 8 oz more the pack will make up for it ten fold especially when it comes time to haul 100lbs of meat out 5 miles. I didn't believe it until I got my pack the difference is astonishing

FWIW, Dan McHale sells lots of packs to wilderness hunters. A McHale with the critical mass (CM) belt will carry a 100 lb. payload just fine.

Paradox packs may be worth looking at as well, less than stone glacier, not hunting specific. But similar carrying concept

I figured this might not go over well in the puppy stoke thread...but out of curiosity, why the heck didn't someone shoot these dogs?

Its the middle of the the street and there are like 10 people trying to chase them away and save this guys life, who they seem pretty darn set on killing. Love my dogs and dogs in general, but I certainly would of draw and shot them...the one guy is kicking them and grabbing them and they bite him...

Thinking of (slowly) building up an AR. Are the Anderson lowers that Brownell's has for $42 any good?

I used an Anderson lower on my pistol build, works well. No complaints so far.

Not sure if the Brownells ones are the same. Got a link?

And don't be shy about their reloads...I've been using them for a couple years now, thousands of rounds and never a FTF or FTE...clean and very inexpensive.

It's New York City, pretty hard to be a law abiding citizen and own a gun

I don't understand buying lowers online. After you account for shipping and ffl transfer they seem more expensive than buying it at a gun shop. Either of my local shops are $50 for a stripped lower or $25-40 for a transfer.

    Am I missing something?

Local guy is $15 for a transfer. last year when I was talking to him he said " That's a great deal, anything I bought recently was over 2x the cost"

    I took that to be:

    1. He stocks them at $100 ea
    2. He doesn't stock them, but bought one for himself at $100

I keep thinking that with only a glass patio door between me and bears, lions, elk, and homeless psychos walking through my yard I should get something besides the J. Stevens Little Scout I keep in the closet but I have too many toys already. The motivations, movements and swings in the consumer market of weapons as a marketing case study is interesting to me. My old neighbor was the CFO at Ithaca Gun and dug a 1/2 mile long, official AWSA, water ski pond in his back yard with a jump and camera setup so it must be a highly profitable business. Shooting a BAR is on my bucket list.
