A Frosty Bitch!
So any trimming tips? Like best scissors? What about paper bag vs hang or a combo of the two?? Do you prefer to trim directly after cutting or wait till after dry (before cure I'd assume?). I'm trying all of these in different combos.
Get a few scissors. I have straight and curved with and without springs. Just spend a few bucks and try them out and decide what you like. I generally use straight with springs for rough cut and curved without springs for manicure.
And hang that shit. Make a tomato cage with fence material.
You can trim wet off the vine or hang it and trim it later. I like it fresh off the vine cuz you can get rid of big leaves fast. But it's ok to hang it after that and manicure later.
I'm up to my neck in weed. Can't keep up.
Spring-loaded Fiskars Soft Touch are the tool. Less PITA to trim right after chop. Real scissor and finger hash too.
Hang freshly trimmed nugs indoors, in the dark, away from dust and pet hair. Bigass colas need to be separated into smaller pieces, or have constant airflow for the first 3 days to suck that moisture out so they don't sprout grey mold.
The freezer cure works, and makes for greener nugs after you jar. Some people don't even jar, preferring sealing it in tupperware in the freezer for the long-term.
I think curing makes bud better to mix with tobacco, a vile Yurotrash barbarity which apparently springs from a long tradition of blue smoke Paki hash that hits like bus fumes...
Freeze-dried nugs seem to retain more of their fresh taste for people who like the taste of clean bud out of clean glass, something most Europeans have never known...
I don't like those Fiskars. Gave them to my wife for herbs. Try several and figure out what you like.
I've found Amsterdam to be a bit of a tourist destination for years.
The good weed was found in BC during the late 90s early 2000s. I was a judge at a couple of events in Vancouver. Good times.

We were vaping bubble hash way back then.

Amsterdam bud is because of the usa dudes from Cali who blew town and moved there decades ago. Might have been from this book http://www.smokesignalsthebook.com/
Looks like Canada is going legal. About 3hrs for me.

My girls at four weeks. Two C99's on the ends, Power Kush in the center. 10-12" high at present
Like most females from that region, the kush is a bushy bitch. She is also getting a few leaves looking like this near the top of the canopy - like the whorl just below the newest branches. Affected leaves curl down as well
Using Lucas formula, pH'd to 5.88. Soil registers as "wet" (9/10) on my meter. Soil pH=6.8. FWIW, my water is incredibly soft (45ppm) and I don't add anything besides Micro/Bloom/ph down
Ideas? I was sort of thinking calcium deficiency, but Lucas seems to provide a lot of ca and mag
Thanks
I know nothing about growing weed but given the super dark green color of the rest it looks like crops that got burnt-- too much fertilizer
Looks like overwatering. Or N toxicity. Ca def would make pale spots which turn into brown freckles.
Lucas only wants you to feed every third irrigation, and wait until the soil dries out enough to make the pot lighter before irrigations. He also recommends less than full feeding regimen if the plants are not under full light, ie 1000w over 5x5', or full sunlight. .

The big fuckers aren't exactly easy over time either...Trimming's a pain.
A razor keeps those cutting edges nice and clean, and the scrape is sjartes, some of the nicest smoke there is to smoke.
Alcohol will free a resinated scissor hinge, and wash gloves and fingers afterward.
Hahaha,, "way back then".
I saw better NUGS in 1988 from a few different grows in Napa, Mendicino, Sonoma than ANY of the store or homegrown closet weed in all of Colorado, legal or not.
Hydro weed is great and all, but the rushed nature gives a rushed smoke IMO. Nothing like coastal OUTDOOR harvest in NORCAL.....I love Colorado but the stores are not producing the good shit at all. Great products and good weed, but no innovation at all.
Terje was right.

Back in 2000 not many people were doing dabs. IMO 15 years ago, the weed world was vastly different. Everyone is a expert now.
Hydro, Organic, whatever, a plant finishes when it finishes. A 70-75 day Hybrid, does not finish any sooner because it was grown hydroponically. Just like GG#4 isn't going to take 70-80 days in soil....
I'll put my Head Formula nuggets up against anything. Indoor or outdoor.
Store weed, is not very indicative of the true quality in CO, or anywhere for that matter. Most people are just getting introduced to "good" weed, where growers have had access for years.
TBS: There could be some nutes in your fresh soil that you are not accounting for.
Looks like too much N. Most Kush is finicky too.
I'd hit it with just water, after you let it dry some.

I'm brand new to this whole thing but I was thinking it's totally in its infancy from a botanist/plant science standpoint.
With legalization trials and studies that are commonplace with other crops become a lot easier.
On the subject I'm curious about how plant stress relates to potency-- like a grape or tomato that has been stressed has more intense flavor perhaps weed would produce a more potent (downfall is less yield) flower if stressed?
We neglected and almost killed these two plants I'm doing now several times. They didn't yield much- around 5 oz but it some potent shit. I am super surprised and quite stoked! Now if I can just get it to cure correctly... Pissed my stoner ass forgot to order the packs TBS mentioned.

IMO stressing the plant in anyway is bad. The only thing you might end up with is more coloring such as purple.
My goal is to get as much as possible. Flavor, potency and yield are very strain specific.

Aside from slight spider mites. I pretty much only watered when they were wilted. It was mostly accidental but it helped keep the humidity down.
Musta just been the genes. I think they were Mean Green but could have been Deadhead or Stargazer.
Edit- wife says she is positive they were mean green. We still have stargazer and deadhead out there and momma plants of each accessible..,

These things are the bomb. They make amazing cuts and are easy to handle.
I use any old big scissor to cut the big leaves then I go at it with these. Everything comes out amazing.
The spring loaded ones kill my hands after 10 mins
^^^nice I'm gonna order along with some humidity packs
Lemme get a cut of that!

What's the legality of sending cuttings/seeds?
Thanks for the feedback all. More research on N toxicity seems to match what I'm seeing more than overwatering - esp the clawing only at the ends. As BD sez, the Happy Frog soil may be too hot. Interestingly, I'm seeing no sign of this on the two Cindy's which are in the same soil and get their nutes from the same reservoir. Oh well, maybe they are just slow to react...
I shut down the feeding reservoir, will flush/dry a couple of times this week, then see what happens before adding nutes again. Thanks again for the feedback
And Steepconcrete, Amazon has the Boveda packs. You don't really need them in your jars until you are into the mid-60% RH range.
